Hotel Della Torre is a well-maintained, family-run hotel set just out of Stresa town centre and only 150 metres from Lake Maggiore. Enjoy pretty lake views from the gardens.

This is a good hotel. Food is generous and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful I was unwell on our final day and they were most accommodating and allowed us extra time until I felt well enough to travel. They also offered to let us have the room for an extra night if we needed it. We really appreciate their kindness.
The hotel is in a quiet area and a good walk from the centre of Stresa. But what a lovely walk it is along the very banks of the lake. And really only a short walk to one of the ferry stations for the islands.
The Astoria is set on Stresa's lake-side promenade facing the Borromean Islands. It has a nice garden, and offers rooms with Wi-Fi access, satellite TV and panoramic views.

If you do not have to stay at the lake shores for whatever reason, try something different: stay on top of the hills. The necessary drives down to the lake are more than compensated by the fact to live in a less "touristy" area and to have your meals among true locals. Verbiana, Stresa and Arona are within reasonable distance (20 to 45 minutes depending on traffic). Parking was not easy at busy times of the day but always worked out in the end.
