Montecatini Terme has been known for centuries as one of the most famous spa towns in Italy. Located in the Tuscan province of Pistoia, the town started the process of building baths to contain the thermal waters at the foot of the Montecatini hill as early as in 1530.
The famous baths of Tettuccio, Bagno Regio and Terme Leopoldine were built in the 1770’s, during the rule of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine. It was only at the beginning of the 20th century and after several changes of names that it started to gain fame as a popular resort.
New baths and spa hotels were built at Montecatini’s foothill, growing the quality of the services, and changing the conceptual approach. This city is very walkable with large parks and green spaces. Lots of shopping available in downtown area. The walk to the funicular to Montecatini Alto was lovely and through a beautiful park. Alto offers beautiful views and some historic insights. Unless you are spending time at the thermal spas, or touring nearby local cities, 1 to 2 days would be plenty of time.

Beautiful town.
Beautiful town. Tricky to cycle out of with busy traffic but drivers are respectful of cyclists. Well worth a visit. Good train connections also. Lots of lovely hotels and a laundromat which is always useful!

Lovely place so much to see and excellent Train links to other places of interest eg., Florence and .Lucca to mention just a few .
We would recommend Centrale restaurant for food snacks and drinks excellent service good value.
And a visit to Montecatina Alto is a must.

Beautiful setting and amazing views. Great train links to Lucca, Florence, Pisa and Viareggio. Trip up to Montecatini Alto is a must very pretty town and the most amazing views. We slightly struggled to find restaurants in the evening we found that most restaurants served the same food.

Montecatini is halfway between pisa and Florence so both are reachable by car. We ate at the restaurant platea. The food was good and the staff helpful. At monte catini terme there is a mini golf which we enjoyed. The terme themselves are beautiful.

Very nice town. Lots of lovely hotels to choose from. Plenty of places to visit. Excellent train service. We visited Pisa and Florence and the fares were very reasonable. Lovely clean trains, most had air-con.
Excellent trip on the old cable car wooden train up the mountain for a walk around the old town.

Everything is new and quite clean. The owner of the apartment is friendly and ready to give advice, advice and suggestions at any moment From the apartment there is a view of the Tuscan hills.
Also, near the aprtment is free parking.
Everything is near the aparmtment, center of terme, Montecatni Alto, Piza, Firenze...
You have a big bathroom with clean towels.
Great location close to the central bar street and neat restaurants around.
Parking around the area is very hard to find, and the garage fills out quickly. Better if you don't have a car.
Overall value for money, but would probably recommend spending a bit more on one of the many other hotels around Montecatini Terme
The breakfast was great. Our room, after we upgraded to a suite was amazing, the view and balcony was just incredible. The first room we had booked was a superior double and was a little small for us,
nothing wrong with it apart from that. Location good about a 10 min walk to the main town of Montecatini Terme.
