Scavi 32, hotel in Ercolano

Scavi 32 is set in Ercolano, within 1.2 km of Ercolano Ruins and 8.7 km of Naples Central Train Station.

Scavi 32 is a new and very clean place. To get there from Napoli, it's easiest to take the Portici-Ercolano metro, as the B&B is 700m away. The air conditioning works very well and the shower is perfect. It's a room that would suit a couple or people in close proximity, as the shower is in the room and has a glass door. Antonio is very friendly and helpful. He is always attentive and available. They clean every two days and change the towels. He offers coffee, muffins, tea and a few bottles of water. The room is equipped with bath towels, a hairdryer and a minibar. You can reach the center in 20 minutes on foot (just follow Via Mare). On the same street you'll find a simple but very good pizzeria.

The building was beautiful, well maintained palazzo, with a small, perfect swimming pool/big jacuzzi and nice garden. Room was great, spacious, with dining room area, comfy beds, balcony with sea view. 15-20 mins walking distance to marina area and restaurants by the sea. Owners/staff were fantastic hosts. We could not enjoy breakfast because we needed to check out very early in the morning and they prepared a take away bag with a small breakfast for us. Great stay!

VILLA DURANTE, hotel in Ercolano

Set 100 metres from Ercolano Ruins, 8.5 km from Naples Central Train Station and 10 km from Chiesa dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo, VILLA DURANTE offers accommodation located in Ercolano.

The architecture of the building was incredible. Absolutely stunning inside. Loved the drapes, furnishings and decor. It was great that we were so well placed to visit the archaeological site of Erculano. We spent many hours wandering around this beautiful historical site, which is so well preserved and gives visitors an opportunity to observe what life would have been for the people of Erculano before Mount Vesuvias erupted. Francesca and Theresa looked after us so well. Thank you, Francesca, for your expert knowledge and the advice you gave us over the best way to get to Maiori. It was just so easy, train to Salerno, Ferry from Salerno to Maiori. Thank you, Theresa, for your hospitality, you made us so welcome. The breakfasts every morning we're so tasty and inviting. Thank you for recommending the restaurant. We had a lovely evening. It was great being able to have a conversation with you via the app on your phone. You just went out of the way to make our stay very special. We felt sad leaving. A great start to our Amalfi holiday. ♥️

    The ruins were fantastic.

The ruins were fantastic. There is also the Teatro Antico, which is still underground. We missed out on this as we didn't find out about it until we got there. They only admit small groups at a time and it was fully booked. Tickets are available from the Herculaneum entrance or on the Ticket One website, so you really need to book on advance. There is a virtual Archaeological museum in the town. This includes a short 3D film about Vesuvius, the opportunity to fly a virtual drone and a VR experience of walking round one of the palace gardens. Ideal for kids and teens! The museum is screen based about Herculaneum ruins and does not include actual discoveries from the site. For visiting the surrounding areas, trains into Naples are regular, as are trains to Pompeii (but you have to change - the ticket man didn't tell us this!). Don't miss the chance to wander round the actual town of Pompei. It was beautiful! In fact, next time I would choose to stay there over Ercolano or Naples!

My grandchild suggests we would have been better staying in Pompeii and travelling to Ercolano one day. I had decided to follow what my neighbour suggested, based on taking a younger child to southern Italy.

We spent one night in Ercolano to visit the ruins of Herculaneum and break up our trip to the Amalfi Coast. The ruins are a must-see and you can experience authentic Naples pizza at RO.VI. We also enjoyed espresso and drinks at the Herculaneum Cafe. I'm not sure what you'd do here for more than a day or two, but the ruins and authentic cuisine were definitely worth our time!

The apartment was very nice and people of Ercolano very friendly. They really drive like crazy, but that is their way of life. Train station is really near the apartment and best option to reach Napoli, Pompei, Sorrento...

A spectacular place if you are interested in Roman history around the eruption of Vesuvius. There is plenty to see and the remains of Ercolano are in very ggod condition considering it was buried almost 2,000 years ago. Well worth a visit

Ercolano is a small town nearby Vesuvio, which can be seen from most everywhere, Naples bay also is lovely and is seen from most of the places in the town. You can easily find nice fish, pizza, fast food and traditional local restaurants in 10-15 min walk. There is a nice but small botanical garden in the territory of the local university. They also have a park of mandarins/tangerines which you can pick up for free. The ruins of Ercolano/Herculaneum exceeded our expectations! It is not overcrowded as Pompei, the territory you can walk through in 1-1.5 hours, moreover, some buildings are in better condition ... we liked it.

The hotel is located in XVIII century house with a charming park, lemon trees, palms, fountain. Rooms are big with tall painted ceiling and old style doors with electronic keys :). The train station is in 10 min walk, then you can get to centre of Napoli or Pompei in 20 min. The ruins of Ercolano are also 10 min walk (exceeded our expectations). Furthermore, there are plenty of small excellent restaurants nearby. Also, on request, you can get a private taxi driver to get you anywhere you need (airport or Vesuvio) for 45-50 eur.

The kindness and hospitality of the Hotel team. We got great advices on what to visit and also great support with luggage and parking. Breakfast was really good (international) and the rooms clean and large. Location for Herculaneum is just perfect (in front of the entrance).
