Travellers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look out for ragú on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savour their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops can be found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage listed. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views over this red-roofed city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square are the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088 and home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodation on Booking.com ranges from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.
Bologna is a lovely city. Food Is fabulous and very pleasant to walk. Good train network. A visit to Ravenna is a must. La Finastrella great tratoria on corner of via Pialla near that window looking into the canal.

We loved walking the streets and the porticos, the University area and the great food at every corner. A highlight was the Balsamic vinegar tasting from the oldest maker of balsamic vinegar from Modena. Bologna seemed to be full of surprises every step we took.

It's a great idea to use the public transport - buses, it's cheap – you dont pay more than 6 euros for 24 hours and you buy the ticket in bus just with your visa card! Next time I'll try renting a bike because there are lots of people cycling and it doesn't seem too dangerous.

Beautiful old buildings and churches.
Beautiful old buildings and churches. Lots of shopping opportunities and places to eat.
The heat and humidity spoiled our stay as it made walking around exhausting.
The worst experience was the queues at the airport. 3 separate queues totalling 2 hours! The Marconi Express was a disgrace. Totally overpriced at eur25.80 for 2 for a 7 minute journey. The monorail was too fast. There were only a few seats with the rest of the travellers jam packed and standing in the remaining small space. We were all being thrown around, hanging on for dear life. An awful, quite frightening experience. I'm sure Marconi would be disgusted at being linked to this awful service.

I've waited to visit Bologna for years and when I finally got there it did not disappoint. This must be the coolest city in the world. Culture, amazing food, lots of live music, friendly people. I felt safe travelling alone here.
We lived in apartment 202 at via Milazzo, 12, on the fifth floor. It is close to the train station Bologna Centrale and 15-20 minutes walk from the main square of the old town - Piazza Maggiore. Keys must be picked up at the hotel Astoria itself, a few blocks away. The apartments are quite comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need: a small stove, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, a minimum set of dishes. The beds are located away from the kitchen. The bathroom is big. Bed linen and towels are excellent.
The Zanhotel Europa is a beautiful "old-world" hotel that is tucked in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The train station was a 10-15 min walk, which was great for us, as we traveled from Bologna to Venice and Pisa while we stayed at the hotel.
The hotel breakfast buffet was exceptional! Definitely worth purchasing that option.
The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful and seemed to appreciate our being there.
Hotel was a short walk away from the main part of Bologna's shops and restaurants.
We loved UNAHOTELS, the staff was so kind and informative, room was spacious, clean, big comfy bed. Breakfast was great, as in all hotels we were in Italy, but the difference is that this hotel has an area with Bologna specialties. <3
Location is great if you carry big bags and luggage as it's right across the main station, and it's a 17 minute walk to the centre. But on the way to the centre there are many things and shops. Also, the breakfast outdoor seating area is lovely!
Located in the very heart of Bologna city center, you can connect with plenty of public transport in couple of minutes.
20 min walk from central station
15 min by bus to arrive at Bologna Fiera
7-10 min walk to visit the cathedrals, etc
Plenty of restaurants within 2-10 min walk
Cozy apartment, clean, coffee machine, kitchen included for travelers who want to cook by themselves but hey you are in Italy so go out have some fun and eat the excellent Italian food.
This was my second stay at this excellent hotel. Faultless. Very comfortable room and modern well-appointed en suite shower room. Reception staff are wonderful, helpful and professional. The hotel is in a great location in central Bologna, with Piazza del Nettuno and the historic centre, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. I parked at the nearby Parcheggio Piazza VIII Agosto which was easy. Breakfast was excellent with different options available.
The hotel is centrally located, minutes walk from the historical center of Bologna. There are supermarkets and shops and restaurants right across the street.
we had a studio apartment which was very spacious and had all the necessary, from an aesthetic perspective the decor was very basic, it was on the ground floor looking into a small courtyard so not a lot of light coming in. but otherwise very clean and practical.
Hotel Centrale was a great stay in the heart of Bologna and excellent value for money. It was close to the main piazza but still out of the way enough to be quiet and calm. The room was spacious with good ventilation. Breakfast was very tasty too. There are many fantastic food places surrounding the hotel, you will be spoilt for choice. Staff were great we would look to stay again!
We needed a hotel close to the Bologna airport in order to catch a 6:00 AM flight. The hotel was very efficient in this regard; the 4 am shuttle to the airport was on time, and we easily made our flight. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant the night before our flight; the dinner was very good and prices weren't bad.
Perfect for a visit to Bologna. Spot on the centre with lots to see and to do around. Great decoration. Every part of the hotel has beautiful corners, like a museum full of surprises. Excellent breakfast. Also very welcome valet service with the (impeccable and decorated) garage on site (with possibility to charge EV).
The hotel had free parking and was situated on a bus route that went into the centre of Bologna and to the airport. Approx 20 minute bus journey for 1.50 Euros per person to the airport ! Staff friendly and spoke good English. Rooms were a good size and there is a fridge in the room .
loves how beautiful and centrally
located this building it! walkable to all of the old quarter in bologna with friendly and helpful staff. the rooms and the building are really the showstopper. there is parking available, but be sure to reserve through the hotel with your stay.
Outstanding location within 3 mins walk from the Bologna Central Station and about 15 mins walk to the City Centre. The hotel was a pleasant surprise and squeaky clean. The staff at the reception were super friendly especially Astrid and Cypeien. I would stay there again !
We stayed in Bologna so we could attend the Formula One in Imola four days. The hotel was perfect because was an easy walk to the train station, nice restaurants and attractions. The room and bathroom particularly the shower was bigger than most hotel rooms in Italy.
Location was great .. minutes away from the interesting places in Bologna ,very close to many shops and restaurants. Right in the heart of the city .
The art in the hotel is very pretty and colorful and certainly a nice change from other hotels.
Small, cosy hotel very close to the airport. Large room, comfortable large bed. Good breakfast and excellent coffee. Friendly staff with very good English. The bus very close to the hotel will take you straight to Bologna city centre.
We stayed at Conte Luna for a night before an early flight out of Bologna airport. It is a quiet hotel and the night staff was very helpful with our bags and arranging an early morning taxi.
Good location right opposite Bologna Centrale train station. Restaurants, pharmacy, cafes in walking distance. Very clean and upscale hotel appearance.
