The food (breakfast only on our stay), accommodation and staff were all as one would hope to find. The oly reason I have not awarded 10/10, was that the owner was not forthcoming, except for an SMS sent to us before our arrival, that the cook had burned himself and it meant the evening meals would not be available, necessitating the use of not so local restaurants (30 - 40 km each way). However, we did get the warning.
Offering a garden and river view, Guesthouse Helluland is set in Þingeyjarsveit, 39 km from Myvatn Nature Baths and 28 km from Husavik Golf Club.

The owner is very helpful and friendly. We were stuck because of the snow storm and found this guesthouse nearby, and the owners provide some soup for us. They where travelling back from their event for us so we are very grateful

Everything. I had my own little house close to the main building. There was plenty of space, a comfy bed, a fantastic view and a wonderful breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place.

Very nice and full breakfast buffet, the Hotel is remote but also very close to Godafoss. It is away from the main roads and therefore very idyllic located, nonetheless you are in 5 mins at Godafoss. The very lovely cats are a gem, giving the visitor a warm welome everytime he arrives at the hotel.
Featuring a restaurant, this summertime hotel is located in the rural surroundings of the Reykjadalur valley. Akureyri is 60 km away, while Husavik is 40 km away. Free high-speed WiFi is included.

The location is fabulous, especially if you are allocated rooms 22-26 (ask for these rooms when you check in) as these look out over the falls and mountains. Sadly, our room was not on that side, but it did not really matter. The building has been painted so the picture on the website still needs to be updated which made it a little tricky to find. We asked at the local cafe, only to find out it was right next door.
The hotel only opens for the summer so it is just getting underway with this season's staff and they still have a few things to iron out. Having said that the staff could not have been more helpful and very welcoming.
Guesthouse Brúnahlíð, a property with a terrace, is situated in Aðaldalur, 33 km from Godafoss Waterfall, 35 km from Myvatn Nature Baths, as well as 23 km from Husavik Golf Club.

Good, clean, modern cabin, well equipped. Close to the main road and easy to reach. great place for overnight stay in between different interesting tourist zones.
We were let down by Viator who cancelled a whale watching...
We were let down by Viator who cancelled a whale watching reservation we had made without what we regarded as a satisfactory explanation. However we were able to reserve at a slightly different time by going direct to the company in Husavik. The tour, on a RIB, was expensive but superb and ultimately worth the money. If we were going again we would happily spend more time in the region because it is a good base for coastal, mountain and volcanic side trips, and it would be easy to fill four or five days instead of the two we gave ourselves.
