Everything excellent. Great location and what a view. Beautifully renewed house.
My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag.
My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the self-check-in process was a breeze, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and the spaciousness of my room. The facilities, including the WiFi and kitchen, were top-notch, and I had no complaints on that front.
However, there were a few quirks that left me feeling a bit unsure. The surrounding farm was somewhat peculiar, but I must admit that I'm not exactly an expert on farming, and I didn't book this place for its agricultural charm.
The absence of any human interaction with the host was a tad disconcerting. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, and a friendly welcome or some local insights would have been appreciated.
One noteworthy detail was the water quality, which had a distinct sulfur smell. While this might be normal for the area, it would have been helpful if the host had mentioned it beforehand.
In summary, the guesthouse had fantastic facilities, but the lack of host interaction and the peculiar farm surroundings left me with mixed feelings. Plus, a heads-up about the unique water scent would have been a considerate touch.
However, all in all, good to very good value for the money.

This small town is a good base for exploring the area, including horse riding at Icelandic Horse Tours in Helluland and a trip to Drangey Island with Drangey Tours. There is a nice exhibit on the Icelandic Civil War (ca 1230) and Iceland's oldest bakery. A short walk up to the cemetery provides a nice view.

Wonderful museum in town ( fun for kids - has virtual reality experience) More museoms in surrounding area. Many more areas to explore and activities to partake in. Excellent tourist information staff in Varmahid.
A house from 1820! Its an awesome experience in Iceland to stay in such old hotel! Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, free wi-fi. Hot spring behind a house! Average breakfast. I DO WARN YOU: Rooms a quite small, it is obviously expected that people lived in 1800s had different expectations and comforts, house is fully wooden and floors are very loud and noisy (hotel offer ear plugs for that) and other people could hear you with ease through walls (burp/fart/sneeze and everything else).
The whole place was really nice! They've just finished refurbishing the common area and it looks like some 5 star hotels! The entrance was not entirely finished, but they were putting a lot of work and effort into it.
We were the only guests the night we stayed, and it was great!
We were allowed to use the hot tub too, which is outside, and provides an overview of the amazing valley the guesthouse is in.
It is a farm too, and you can see horses and some other animals!
The best quirky, unique old hotel of our entire 2 week trip! Character, charm, personality throughout. The room was comfortable. Spacious room big enough for four adults. It's an old hotel that is very well maintained. The restaurant downstairs is just as charming as the rest of the hotel and breakfast was terrific! I'm sure they serve a great dinner fare but we did not partake. There is also a nice hot tub that we didn't use. We loved staying here!
This is an elegant version of an Icelandic guesthouse, with a beautiful common area for meals. The beds are very comfy. There's a small kitchen with almost everything you might need to make meals. The host was very helpful when we ran into a problem - she went out of her way to solve our problem and we really appreciated that. The room was quiet and pretty comfortable. Breakfast was very nice - plenty of food and a variety of choices.
Upon check-in, we were offered the opportunity to upgrade to a room at the Tindastool Hotel & we took it. The keystone in the fireplace downstairs in the dining area says it was built in 1820 & the owners have exerted a huge effort to provide modern comfort (plumbing, electricity, wifi) and safety (sprinklers, smoke detectors). Our room was clean, cozy & comfy, the beds & comforters were excellent. We had no complaints with our stay!
Our stay was very nice at this hotel with so much history and character. Breakfast was very good. The staff was friendly. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. The room was a good size and cozy. The hotel’s ambience was cozy, warm and inviting. Also great that it had parking for our rented car. Relaxed at the hotel’s hot pot with a cold beer.
We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay. The house has a fantastic view - especially the sunsets over the mountains and the sea were breathtaking - and is not too far from Sauðárkrókur where you can have good food or take the bus. The rooms, bathroom and kitchen were all nice and clean! We‘ll definitely be coming back!!
Stunning location, absolutely adorable farmhouse converted to guesthouse. Beautifully decorated rooms and so so cozy. Kitchen fully equipped for preparing meals and shared restrooms clean. Friendly staff who allowed us to check in early. Bed comfy. One of my favorite stops of a month in Iceland.
Beautiful setting in the village of Holar, Iceland. So much historical significance here - too much to mention here - look it up on Google. Comfortable room, very clean, ease of checking in, good breakfast, individual router in the room so excellent wifi connection, great shower.
I would recommend this place to anyone thinking about staying in Sauðárkrókur. Perfect if you're traveling alone and probably for a couple aswell. It was really cozy and clean, definitelly worth the price, wish I could stay longer.
Small, cozy hotel with a really beautifully designed restaurant and really good breakfast (the home-baked bread was delicious!). There is also a hot tub in the back garden. Peaceful location by the sea. We really enjoyed our stay.
Watched a round-up of 80 Icelandic Ponies every evening that were lead past our lodging, then saw them be brought back every morning. Spectacular! Kitchen terrific, staff very helpful in helping plan side trips.
Very good garage apartment, good value for money. Seems pretty recently made up and had all the essentials. Good location within walking distance from everything @Sauðárkrókur.
