My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag.

My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the self-check-in process was a breeze, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and the spaciousness of my room. The facilities, including the WiFi and kitchen, were top-notch, and I had no complaints on that front. However, there were a few quirks that left me feeling a bit unsure. The surrounding farm was somewhat peculiar, but I must admit that I'm not exactly an expert on farming, and I didn't book this place for its agricultural charm. The absence of any human interaction with the host was a tad disconcerting. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, and a friendly welcome or some local insights would have been appreciated. One noteworthy detail was the water quality, which had a distinct sulfur smell. While this might be normal for the area, it would have been helpful if the host had mentioned it beforehand. In summary, the guesthouse had fantastic facilities, but the lack of host interaction and the peculiar farm surroundings left me with mixed feelings. Plus, a heads-up about the unique water scent would have been a considerate touch. However, all in all, good to very good value for the money.

This small town is a good base for exploring the area, including horse riding at Icelandic Horse Tours in Helluland and a trip to Drangey Island with Drangey Tours. There is a nice exhibit on the Icelandic Civil War (ca 1230) and Iceland's oldest bakery. A short walk up to the cemetery provides a nice view.

The whole place was really nice! They've just finished refurbishing the common area and it looks like some 5 star hotels! The entrance was not entirely finished, but they were putting a lot of work and effort into it. We were the only guests the night we stayed, and it was great! We were allowed to use the hot tub too, which is outside, and provides an overview of the amazing valley the guesthouse is in. It is a farm too, and you can see horses and some other animals!

This was my favorite bed & breakfast on our trip around Iceland’s Ring Road! I loved all the history of the hotel, the 1800’s decor, the touches of luxury like bath robes and very comfortable bedding and Icelandic wool blankets, and the breakfast was delicious! Elise at the front desk was so sweet, friendly, and patient. And the hot springs tub outside on the back patio was a wonderful way to end the day! Loved every minute and wished we could have stayed longer!

The best quirky, unique old hotel of our entire 2 week trip! Character, charm, personality throughout. The room was comfortable. Spacious room big enough for four adults. It's an old hotel that is very well maintained. The restaurant downstairs is just as charming as the rest of the hotel and breakfast was terrific! I'm sure they serve a great dinner fare but we did not partake. There is also a nice hot tub that we didn't use. We loved staying here!

Upon check-in, we were offered the opportunity to upgrade to a room at the Tindastool Hotel & we took it. The keystone in the fireplace downstairs in the dining area says it was built in 1820 & the owners have exerted a huge effort to provide modern comfort (plumbing, electricity, wifi) and safety (sprinklers, smoke detectors). Our room was clean, cozy & comfy, the beds & comforters were excellent. We had no complaints with our stay!

This is an annexe attached to the oldest hotel in town. We had the biggest room and a view as well. There was heaps of space for our bags and cold weather gear. (We had a lot) Breakfast was very good, in a basement dining room that was decorated with heaps of memorabillia. There was a private natural hot spring in the grounds that was nice and hot. Staff were lovely and did our washing for us.

We arrived in the evening after a long drive so were delighted that we could make use of the hot tub outside, it was so warm and relaxing! The hotel itself was really charming with an antiquey feel to it. We were given a huge room which was very quaint. It was very clean and comfortable and we loved the history of the place. The staff were lovely and helpful too.

We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay. The house has a fantastic view - especially the sunsets over the mountains and the sea were breathtaking - and is not too far from Sauðárkrókur where you can have good food or take the bus. The rooms, bathroom and kitchen were all nice and clean! We‘ll definitely be coming back!!

I really liked the hot pot. But also the very friendly staff as well as our enterprising Breakfast Room in the basement. I forgot somethin in the hotel and they got in touch with me. Two days later I got it back. I am very grateful how helpful they were. Thank you so much!

Everything was just perfect - clean, comfortable, hot tub, laundry, kitchen, coffee machine. The best was the thoughtful hostess, Linda, filling up the fridge for breakfast and fresh eggs from the farm. Best experience in Iceland so far. Thank you!
