Perfect place as a mid-point in a long drive. Virtually ZERO to do, including only a gas station grocery only. But as a "motel 6" type option, it was better than average.

The two guys that run this place have apparently taken it on in the last couple of years and are very enthusiastic, friendly and helpful.
There is a pool table in the main “hall” area.
And the breakfast was delicious (there’s a waffle maker!)
Dinner can also be provided but you need to give 48hrs notice

Location is 1km to nearest supermarket, so driving may be better. The quietness and peaceful surroundings. You see sheep’s and horses right in front of your cottage.
We felt cold even though we turned up the heater. When I sent a message through the booking site, they were very fast to respond and sent us a heater straight away. So we had a warm and toasty sleep.

Owners have done the "extra" mile here. It was the most welcooming experience in a hotel/room i ever had. They had thought of every need you may have. You can find anything you want in the house with instructions, from how to make your waffles (they offer you all the ingredients there with homemade jam) to musical instruments, to turn on the hot pool so that you find it ready when you go. Highly recommened. And the best location for northern lights, we just went out of the house and we saw the magical show of northern lights above us.

The house is beautiful located at the edge of the fjord, There is another house just next to it. There is enough privacy for both houses. The interior is made with love. I loved the spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfy.
When the sun shines it can get very hot inside, but we could open all kind of windows, so it was no problem, i liked the sustainability of using the sunheat.

I had a lovely stay here. Very comfy bed, beautiful views, nice kitchen and bathroom and very, very quiet. A real Icelandic experience which I am so happy to have experienced. The host was very welcoming and friendly and told me a lot about sheep farming in Iceland. Just be prepared for a fairly long gravel road. It is in the middle of nowhere.

A very lovely and warm home that made our stay in Iceland an absolute delight and comfort. Our hosts were welcoming and the place was pretty, clean and spacious. The sea view was therapeutic. We loved the place!
This hotel was easy to find off the main Route 1. Accommodation was on the basic side, however it was clean and tidy. 24/7 tea & coffee available from the dining area. Staff were friendly and assisted where necessary. Reasonable buffet breakfast. It is more on the expensive side compared to other hotels we had stayed in but due to its location, it appears to be reasonably priced. There is plenty of off road parking. The village itself is quite compact but there is a lack of local restaurants. We can recommend the Sjavarborg Restaurant, on the quayside for evening meal.

We only stayed a night, arriving in a blizzard. It was absolutely stunning, the hot tub and sauna in the snow were simply breath-taking. We didn't even get a chance to check out Hvammstangi, unfortunately, but next time I will definitely stay here again!

We loved everything: the cottage, the view, the nice short talk with the owner, the aurora on our second evening!
The main restaurant at the village near the cottage is pricy but very good: save for it if needed, it is worth it (and needed as there is no kitchen in the cottage 😉).
The water could be ice cold at first, be patient, it will soon be (very) warm. Talk to the owner before your stay, it will explain the reason better than me!
One last point: the owner talked about a path to go to the shore of the fjord, but we didn't found it. Make sure he explain it to you clearly.

We stayed here for one night.
We stayed here for one night. We where a little concerned considering the remote area of the country. The owner greeted us very kindly and made us feel like at home. Once you step in you can feel the love she has put in to this place. I was really happy on how clean the house is. The bed limens where so clean and ironed. ♥️ the backyard was adorable. She had waffles for us and a home made jelly made. ♥️

Just a short walk out of town but far enough to be quiet and private. Guesthouse was a wonderful surprise. Modern, clean and a very well equipped kitchen for guests. Host even threw a pot of coffee on in the morning. Full fjord view from our bedroom. Turned out to be one of our best overnights in Iceland.
This is a standard hostel, with some good and some not so good parts. Rooms were large and there was plenty of bathrooms, although they didn't smell to good. The bad part was the kitchen, which is too small for the number of guests, and didn't even have a pan. All in all not a terrible experience, but for sure the worst hostel we saw so far in the 7 days we spent in iceland, also considering value for money
A great location on a farm, just next to a peninsula with its fair share of attractions (go check out the nearby Seal Center in Hvammstangi for a better understanding of the region's cutest mammal before driving around Vatnsnes to spot some seals lounging on rocks). Andrea was a very welcoming host, I really enjoyed talking with her and the breakfast was a nice bonus.
We are group of family (6 people), we booked 3 twin rooms and we get the rooms closed to each other. The rooms are nice and clean. There is a beautiful view from the room (nearby the farm). We like how they use horseshoes to be their symbol in the hotel (e.g., room number and stair). The breakfast is really good especially croissants and egg salad.
We stayed in the first unit, closer to the entrance. The place was roomy, with enough space for our luggages (which was always a problem with hotels). The water did have a strong sulfur smell but other than that, the place was very nice. The views are spectacular and there is a small town very close to it so gas and market are easily accessible.
Loved the size of the home. We rented two homes for our family of 5 and it was by far the best value for our trip for a fraction of the price of the cramped hotels we stayed at during our 9 day road trip. If there was more to do in the area we would have used it as a home base. If we return we would def. stay here again.
Close to the town of Hvammstangi, this clean and comfortable guesthouse provided nice views and a great place to stay while driving along the ring road. There is a nice kitchenette that you can prepare your own meals and a grocery store right down the street (about 5 minutes drive).
This guest house is a gem. A sweeping view of the fiord, a tiny picturesque church and graveyard nearby, and lovely vintage Icelandic furniture, dishes, and decorative touches. Scrupulously clean and tidy with a well-appointed kitchen. I wish I had booked more than one night
This guesthouse didn't look like much from the outside, but the location is perfect - close to Hvítserkur - which was why we booked it. Had nice rooms, looked like recently renovated bathroom, and a large kitchen. And was easy to find the place.
The best place in whole Iceland 🇮🇸
Beautifully decorated. Calm atmosphere and good energies.
The apartment is well equipped with everything we needed and more.
They thought of everything!
The owner is super nice, welcoming and worm.
This lovely house near the water is everything you need for a peaceful stay. Everything and more was available. We could choose in which room to sleep, because there was enough place. We had a real Icelandic feeling in the house.
Although the property did not officially provide a breakfast, they offered a nice small selection of simple breakfast things to have from their fridge + coffee/tea. The house was super comfy and I felt welcomed.
Very friendly hosts and a cozy place with great facilities and equipment.
They prepared the hot tub before our arrival so we could directly warm up after a cold Iceland day. Awesome!
Great stay and an amazing host. Room was spotlessly clean. Bed super cozy. One of our favourite days in Iceland.
Don’t miss swimming pool and hot tubs.
Thank you Alla Dora!
Felt like we were staying at home not at a hotel. The room was small but had everything we needed. Breakfast simple but very delicious. Coffee/tea available at all times.
