Excellent location. Very friendly staff and the food was awesome. We had dinner and breakfast and both were outstanding. We had two rooms and for one of the room got a free upgrade to the same category as the other one.
Excellent, excellent stay.

Fantastic hotel and amazing staff. The woman working the front desk took 15 mins out of her day to try to find luggage storage options for us in Reykjavik. The breakfast was out of this world good. And the bar was lively and fun. This place is amazing.

Our 7 year old daughter has a dairy and egg allergy.
At breakfast they had a vegan section including dairy free milk, dairy free butter and dairy free cheese.
This significantly helped us as it allowed our daughter to have a decent breakfast.

Hella a bit sparse.
Hella a bit sparse. No good restaurants that we found and they stop serving at 9pm. Not much to Hella but it was in the countryside and we saw the Northern Lights. Our hotel was well lit so we could find it but they would not turn off the lights to view the Northern Lights better.

Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and great for going all round. So nice to go east to Vik for the Katla ice caves, skogafoss and the waterfall hike, and Vik beach and west for kerid crater and blue lagoon and then north for gullfoss and the geysers. The town itself has a small supermarket, nice bakery and okay places to eat. Looks pretty with the mountains to the side.

We were not happy with the accommodation.
We were not happy with the accommodation. The front desk staff were disorganized. We were told a day before check that we would have 2 cabins instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told we would get 2 cabins. When we checked I across the street, we were told we had one cabin which was a downgrade for us. One adult had to sleep in an upper bunk bed and the cabin was smelly , some windows did not fully close and the main door did not lock. We were quite disappointed in the accommodations. The cabin was not in good shape. We specifically booked 2 rooms to get 2 bathrooms period. Based in all of this, we would like to request a partial refund.

Beautiful, clean, modern home with spectacular views.
Location of home is quiet, on a horse farm, about 30 minutes from the main town of Selfoss. It was a good location to explore the south. We would stay there again!

Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1.
Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1. Unacceptable reason of overbooking in real time booking system especially we have fully paid.
2. The selection of customers for relocation is not transparent, not logical and also not acceptable, especially we have fully paid in serval months (confirmed and paid on 4 Feb 2023 for the booking on 1-3 Aug)
3. We booked 3 rooms (7 persons) for 2 nights (1-3 Aug). Maybe pre-empting us can release more rooms for others, and maximize the revenue as we might paid less (booked in 6 months in advance)
4. Very short notice ie we received the relocation message at 16:18 on 1 Aug that we were on the way to Legendary Hotel Hella. I strongly believe the overbooking happened at least a month ago but I had only 2 hours notification time
5. 2 receptionists are inexperienced to handle such disaster issue. The manager, the decision maker, was hidden and not face to or talk to the customer directly. 2 Receptionists were not able to explain the situation nor to comport their customers.
6. We were relocated to Bru Country Estate, that required us to drive about 1 hour to there.
7. Hotel Hella booked 3 rooms for us (7 persons) in Bru Country Estate for us but there are only double rooms (no triple room) in Bru Country Estate. It created another problem during the careless relocation booking.
8. We booked a local tour to Highland on 2 Aug. The itinerary was changed and shorted due to longer travel time starting from Selfoss instead of Hella
This is the best stay we had in our 10 night tour of Iceland. A few minutes outside of Hella in a very quiet location, the duplex is updated with modern decor and very well equipped. We enjoyed the private hot tub on the private deck. Beautiful views. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking. There are plenty of pillows and extra blankets although this was not needed as the apartment was nice and warm upon arrival. Host is very attentive via messenger. Our only regret is that we didn't book two nights.
The hotel truly felt like a place to relax after a long day out. The free hot tub and saunas made the stay so luxurious. Breakfast was a standard hotel breakfast but everything you could need and dinner was cooked to perfection so we ate there both nights. The staff were very nice and you could tell put in effort to make the stay enjoyable. The rooms were clean and we had a beautiful view. I don’t know my next trip to Iceland but it will definitely include the Landhotel.
Very friendly and comfortable environment with the cabin style hotel living up to expectations (except we weren't fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights from there). The only hotel during our trip to offer a fresh cooked breakfast option and dinner was delicious, if a little expensive. To make the most of your stay you need to eat in, as the hotel is quite a distance outside of Hella. Staff were excellent.
Hotel Laekur is a lovely family owned and operated inn about 10 minutes from Hella. A solid breakfast was included in our room rate, we enjoyed dinner one night in the hotel restaurant and the proprietor awakened us (as per our request) to see the Northern Lights (and take our photograph) at 3:45 a.m. We also enjoyed the sauna/hot tub/cold plunge barrel!
Such a cosy and beautiful house. It was all nice and warm when we arrived. The bedding was super fresh. The location was beautiful, looking into a river and the village of Hella is so lovely, lots of twinkling lights. The house was also bigger than expected with very good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Amazing value for money, would definitely return.
We stayed in one of the cabins on a November trip to Iceland. Easy to find location and lovely views in the daytime. The cabin was comfortable, warm and spacious for two and the kitchen well equipped (fridge and oven). It was very useful having the restaurant nearby (although we didn't eat there the night we stayed) and the staff were friendly.
Stayed in this nice and quiet hotel with the family for two nights. Friendly and helpful staff, good ideas about where to go and see, have very good knowledge about their country:) Good breakfast and dinner at the restaurant in the evening. Outdoor sauna and hot tube was a plus after a full day out exploring the beautiful nature in Iceland!
Absolutely charming hosts that are super friendly and ready to help you see all the hidden treasures of south Iceland. Room was very nice - and spotless. So quiet at night - all you could hear were the birds and wind. Great place to get a good rest. Excellent location to Hella and beyond. We will be back!
Legendary Hotel Hella was easy to find and check-in was efficient. It was the cheapest of our stays in Iceland because we were only there for one night before driving to the airport the next morning. There are several gift stores located in the town center perfect for souvenir shopping.
Very quiet and clean cabin, comfy beds, spacious, lots of storage options, excellent location for day trip on Golden Circle and for points of interest on South Coast. Fridge, stove, utensil in the kitchen, if needed. Hella is minutes away for grocery shopping and restaurants.
It's located right next to the Caves of Hella. The people who worked in the caves do not own this house, but they helped us more than once when we got stuck in the snow while in the driveway. We adore them. But there are lots of other, better places nearby. Skip this one.
Hotel room was a little cold but liked the fact the bathroom had radiant heat (on the floor). This made the bathroom feel warm and inviting. The hotel was clean and quiet, if we ever go back to Hella, we'll definitely stay there.
Hands down the best price to quality ratio of all the hotels that we stayed during our trip in Iceland.
Rooms seem newly renovated. Clean.
Large room size.
Next to the Ring Road.
We had 3 rooms booked at the hostel and we ended up staying in the hotel! Restaurant was convenient and breakfast was great. Room was clean, bathroom was clean
Clean comfortable rooms with everything you need. Very quiet location right on the river but close to restaurants, etc. Friendly staff, good breakfast.
