The town is dominated by the stunning Byzantine tower; the rest of the town is buzzing with places to eat traditional food. The town itself is not particularly picturesque, but the surrounding beaches, scenery and landscape are majestic. It's good base for exploring the area and for getting boats to other areas as well as Mount Athos.

Great town for food and multicultural experiences.
Great town for food and multicultural experiences. Bad town to be in if it's raining as the power grid immediately fails and there are only a few places that have their own generators. The beach is ok but not that great - as in there are many other better beaches within one hour drive from the town.

If you decide to go to Ouranoupoli is a must to rent a boat.
If you decide to go to Ouranoupoli is a must to rent a boat. The cost is 70 eur/day (without permit) and you can go to Ammouliani and Drenia Islans by your self.
There you can find restaurants with excellent food.
You can stop in any area you want where you can spend some quality time.
I recommend the local pies with vanilla / apples / cheese / spinach...

An excellent starting place to visit Atos Monasteries by males while you (females) swim or sunbathe or drink on the beach :) You can enjoy delicious food or good house wine in various small restaurants along the shore. Advisable to buy olive oil or olives from small local producers on a very good price. Don't miss the wine too.

There are some prejudices about this city.
There are some prejudices about this city. Although I visited this city many times with my wife, we did not encounter anything that would disturb us. It is a very calm and peaceful city and its people are also very kind. Also, the food in the restaurants is very tasty, the prices are reasonable.
I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for one night and I was thoroughly pleased. The room with a balcony offered a breathtaking view of the sea, and it was only a short 12-minute walk from the center. The room itself was immaculate, with modern amenities and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was well-maintained and met my expectations.
I must commend the owner for their exceptional responsiveness and attentiveness to our suggestions for improvement. This level of dedication truly sets this establishment apart.
We loooved the location! Exactly what we need! Right on the seaside, surrounded by trees, with a small beach and nice view... It was not far away from Ouranoupoli, me and my son went daily in the village on foot, on the winding road, and we made about 20 minutes to get there. Breakfast was very good, and the staff very friendly and helpful! We also loved the balcony, with nice sea view, and all the small birds flying around. Also, there was a minimarket nearby, and a tavern at the camping, only 2 minutes away.
Extremely clean, most kind and friendly staff (everybody who works in this hotel deserves a pay raise for being so kind, polite, always smiling and hard working!), location, food variety (and really delicious as well), crystal clear sea with clean and organized sandy beach, amazing pool with an even more amazing view. We would definitely come back every year! The hotel has everything you need for a perfect relaxed vacation. Thank you Aristoteles!
Nicolita the owner was very helpful and responsive. Once I informed her that my room was not cleaned before I received it, she called the room service on the spot to clean it.
Also, she helped in doing the laundry and dry it before I left. As well, she gave me the contacts and schedule for the ferry from Ouranopoli.
Splendid view, very clean and well maintained hotel. Water is very strong when taking the shower. Facilities are well maintained.
Hospitality.
Very clean room.
Even if you do not have parking in front of the hotel you will very quickly find a street next to,no more than 5 minutes walk.
Lady on desk is local. She knows everything about everything in that area. She deserves all the praise from us. We stayed for two weeks and had no negative experiences. A big hug and thank you Konaki from my little son and us.
The location is nice, the place is quiet and peaceful. Our rooms were with nice sea views and they were very clean. The beach side is perfect, 3 minutes of walking by the hotel. There is fully renovated beach bar including food and beverage.
There are enough sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach side and around the pool. The hotel is perfect for family vacation.
We caught a good deal, one night in a deluxe bungalow on ground floor with terrace The room was spacious, a bit outdated furniture, but in very good condition. A/C works well.
Reception was nice, as well as the service people in the taverna.
Breakfast was OK. I do not expect a superior breakfast generally in holiday hotels below 5 stars,
We are a family of 5 and had an amazing time at Villa Maria. The location is perfect if you’re looking for some peace and quiet, the views from the terrace are incredible. The villa has all the necessary amenities and lots of outdoor space, its also close to the nearby shops and restaurants in Ouranoupoli. The host was also very attentive.
Nice, quiet hotel situated in the side street. I had a room in the second floor turned towards the sea so one can sleep evetually with the window opened. The size of the room is good, the beds are OK, one can sit in the small bacony and enjoy the view and atmosphere. All in all this is a excellent hotel to stay in for few days.
In general, we liked everything in the hotel, from check-in to the end of our stay, we had absolutely no complaints. We were greeted with a smile and sent off with one. The hotel has an excellent location, the rooms are very clean, and the staff is extremely kind.
We stayed in a brand-new, recently fully renovated, part of the hotel; everything was in great shape and we particularly enjoyed the spectacular sea view from our balcony; our hosts who were very welcoming and offered suggestions for local places to see
We enjoyed our stay in Xenios Zeus very much. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and there were enough towels, which were regularly changed. The hotel is situated in the center and at the same time near to the beach.
The hotel is near by good beach. You need to use acqua shoes, but the place is with clean and relax natura. The hotel is very clean, with parking, good location, best view, good staff and good food on breakfast.I recommend Sunset Hotel!
Good choice of restaurants. Quiet area by beach very nice. Sea and beach are lovely. Beautiful hotel grounds with lovely reception, terrace area outside and bars all high quality.
Beautiful small family run hotel- not the Hilton, but clean, comfortable and a short walk to boats and restaurants. And priced very reasonably! Evy and Panos are very kind hosts.
