Metsovo is a picturesque village in the area of Epirus. There are many recreational activities you can do there especially hiking, skiing and mountain related stuff. Don’t miss to visit the Averof art gallery with rare paintings from famous Greek artists. Also, as it’s one hour drive to Meteora don’t miss the chance to visit this unique place.

Metsovo is a small village in the mountains used as a skii resort during winter. It reminds me of an Austrian ski resort with wooden framed buildings and colourful plants outside and cobblestone pathways. Very romantic and picturesque. There are hikes and mountain biking trails and day trips to go see. One night was not long enough. The area is renowned for its locally made cheeses and wine, and meat. Also famous for its wooden artifoand homemade textiles

Picturesque village, everything withing walking distance.
Picturesque village, everything withing walking distance.
Ideal for families, offering a new playground, huge running and playing areas between the trees and next to the mountain view (Averofeios Kipos and the outdoor space of the central church)- however not stroller friendly as the streets are traditionally stone paved.
Withing ~1 hour drive you will find lakes, waterfalls, mountains, walking paths and other traditional villages.
The food, pies, cheeses, wine, tsipouro of Metsovo are a must try! And the prices are fair.
Believe it or not, this “meat” eating village is great for vegetarians as well, you’ll find many delicious and traditional options!
The clean air of Metsovo will refresh you!
So much intact nature though means that you ll also get mosquitoes (in spring and summer) so come prepaired.

Metsovo is a busy tourist resort with a great selection of tavernas and pretty buildings to enjoy. Parking can be difficult so try to book a hotel with parking. Very steep roads so difficult for those who are unsteady on their feet.

I was travelling from Tzoumerka and
Zagoria and followed people’s advised to visit Metsovo village and stay around overnight to explore the area when visiting Meteora. I found the village extremely touristy with not much to offer. It is larger than the typical beautiful villages we have visited along our route without character or appeal. If I was planning my trip again, I would stay the night in Tzoumerka or anywhere else and skip the village all together.

Ideal for those who love mountain air, Alpine conditions, unspoilt forests and outdoors sports ans activities. There's a skiing piste just outside Metsovo and miles of mountains, valleys and local fauna and flora where you can forget about city life and daily stresses.
Although very touristy in certain occasions, this unique village keeps a charm of bygone days, a distinct identity, foods and still the disappearing Aromanian or Vlach language which is steeped in History. Local pastas, dishes and cheeses are amazing and distinct.
This might be the best place I've stayed in Greece so far, I can't even describe how blown away I was by our super-friendly host. Her recommendations were top notch. The loft itself is unbelievable cozy, offering a beautiful view over the mountains and Anilio, the nearby village. Within walking distance to everything you need, including a local market (Fridays, as far as I can tell). Tons of places to hike, I went on Ursa Trail with the regret of not having more time to explore. Beds were perfect, I slept like a rock.
We specifically chose this hotel because it is part of the Katogi Winery, a producer of one of our favorite wines. The room and bathroom was incredibly spacious, clean and modern. We had to leave VERY early in the morning, so unfortunately we did not get to try the included breakfast. The wine tour and tasting in the building next to the hotel was wonderful. The walk into town was easy. And the staff recommendations for what to do in the town and where to eat were perfect.
Breakfast was of traditional Greek style and very healthy and tasty. Rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of parking at the hotel. The views were awesome from the room and the balcony was a good size. The hotel is family run and the hosts were very accommodating and great people! They also gave us a going away gift of local ready to cook pasta that we had further in our trip (very delicious). This is a great place to stay.
We stayed one night in the hotel, which was very nice. Room was spacious; it had a fireplace, not relevant to our stay in June, but for winter visits it would be much appreciated. The hotel has a parking garage, which was very convenient. The center of town and attractions (winery, museum) were within walking distance.
Grandeur of the mountains you see through the windows when lying in jacuzzi or in bed worths your stay in Metsovo. Georgios is very friendly and with great sense of humor. He organized for me sending back to my country through courrier the phone charger and cable that I forgot in the hotel. Thank you, Yiorgo!
Best hotel in Metsovo.
The room I had is big and with a nice private balcony.
Staff is very friendly. They gave us tomatoes from their garden and a pack of typical noodle of Metsovo.
We loved the place and the city, so we stayed one night more than we planned.
Dog friendly.
The hotel is a family run business and the hosts were the friendliest people we met in our 2 week travel in Greece. They shared so much of their culture with us. Town is beautiful, the hotel is perfectly located, rooms are comfortable. I definitely recommend you stay here.
The room was sparkling clean, the hotel had its own parking lot and the host was very friendly and provided us with useful tips about places to eat and visit. Breakfast consisted of omlette, butter, jam, honey, croissants and sponge cake, orange juice and delicious coffee.
Beautiful view over the village, host was very helpful , especially with the parking. The hotel has a small elevator which is quite useful when going up from the parking. Excellent location for transit - 1 night. No noise from the clock in the central market :)
It is all you expect from a mountain destination room - materials used and decoration inspired by the tradition of Metsovo it perfectly fits into the environment. It is a far away from a sterilized hotel room- the owner's personal care reflects in the rooms.
The great view from the room (even from the bathroom). The staff was amazingly kind and gave us all the info needed.
The parking lot was at the bottom of the hotel which was great.
Everything was just perfect.
Being my fourth time in Hotel Kassaros, I always appreciated their attention to details and to make the guest feel comfortable. Breakfast is very good, even in the times of the pandemic. A wonderful experience!
we had a great stay. wonderful vacation. the location is super central. the manager is probably the nicest person in Greece.
our family had a wonderful ski vacation. we recommend this hotel!
This is our favorite place when we come home from vacation in Greece. The hotel is very comfortable, the staff is great, and Metsovo is worth visiting at least once a year!
