I booked a last minute trip to Methoni and chose the Augusta Hotel for my accommodations. Upon my arrival, I met the front concierge, who was very friendly and welcoming of my arrival to the hotel. The entire hotel was very clean and looked to have been newly renovated. My room was extra spacious with a beautiful white marble flooring, two full size beds, two balconies and a very spacious shower with excellent water pressure. The hotel was just around the corner from the the main beach and restaurants/cafes; but also had a small cafe across the street for a quieter atmosphere, if needed. The main hall of the hotel also had a bar, tv and seating area for a nice casual atmosphere for some pre/post dinner drinks. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel and will definitely recommend it to family and friends for future visits.

Methoni is absolutely lovely and we really enjoyed it. The only thing I would say is that it is hard to get away to visit other places without a car. There are some buses, to Pylos, Finicounta and Kalamata, but it was impossible to get a timetable. We kind of got round it by getting a taxi to Pylos initially, and the nice man at the bus office wrote down the times of buses between Pylos and Methoni, but we didn't travel around as much as we might have because it was so hard to get the bus times. There are very good local taxi services, but they are a bit pricey to do more than a couple of excursions (for us anyway - no disrespect at all to local taxi driver who were wonderful when we used them). Other than this it is really beautiful and absolutely fantastic food. The beach is lovely and great for swimming and snorkelling. The castle is amazing. Getting a boat to nearby Sapientza is recommended too, as is an excursion to Ancient Messini. The museum at the castle in Pylos is great.

Methoni has a good choice of restaurants, quite a few of which are located around the square which has a lovely atmosphere of an evening. There is plenty of free parking and the castle is worth visiting, especially for the views.
Methoni is a great place to relax and watch the boats or to sip a cocktail while looking at the milky way.

Methoni is a great village for a relaxing beach holiday.It suits families with young children ,couples and solo travellers who want a peaceful holiday.There are lots of traditional Greek restaurants none of the usual tourist fare, the food is amazing our favourite was Sapienza just off the coast road.
The beach is clean with plenty of sunbeds the sea is shallow and crystal clear..I would suggest use the sunbeds in front of the Methoni Beach Hotel.the beds are free you just need to purchase food or drinks.The food is excellent and everything is ordered and brought to your sun lounger.There are lots of friendly cats and some dogs who like following you around the village.
Visiting Methoni castle is a must,it is huge!! It only costs €3 per person the views are amazing with loads of wildflowers inside the ruins.I would be apprehensive though taking young children due to the open steep drops in some cases.
There are 3 gift/tourist shops in the village and two small mini markets.There are two amazing bakeries on the same road our favourite was Athanasiou Bakery a great selection of bread, pastries,cakes and handmade mini ice creams.
The Trojan horse bar makes great cocktails and the staff are helpful and friendly.A good place to try a few cocktails.
Overall visit Methoni and stay in the Achilles hotel. The village is great and easy to walk around for a peaceful beach holiday with none of the usual tourist stuff that can ruin a resort.

Methoni is a quiet unspoiled place, with all the pros and cons.
Restaurants are quite good, parking spaces are plenty and many places/beaches nearby to go to.
One huge disappointment is the main attraction: Methoni castle is one of the biggest and most important castles in the whole country but at night it is pitch-black ... zero effort was put in illumination, what a pity!
Great family run hotel in the small coastal town of Methoni, rooms clean, comfortable and well appointed, public spaces very clean and comfortable, breakfasts on the terrace exceptional. A lovely place to stay, owners very friendly and helpful, town is interesting, with good places to eat and a town beach within 200 yards of the hotel for an evening or morning dip. Also close to Pylas, Koroni, Voidokilia Bay and the Palace of Nestor, close enough also to visit Kalamata and Ancient Messini.
Mythos Suites is situated right next to Methoni’s beach, 2 min away from the castle entrance and seconds away from the restaurants and bars.
The apartment has three beautiful terraces, comfortable bedroom and kitchen along with dining room.
The oven and the bathroom shower are a little worn off, but everything is super clean.
Overall it is a great accommodation which needs small improvements to get even better.
Super clean hotel. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was AMAZING!! Nothing was too much for Nikos to do for us. Nikos is a super friendly very accommodating host. Very comforting and comfortable space on the patio. So peaceful and relaxing. Nikos is a very kind person. It's close to one block walking to beach, restaurants, castle. Don't hesitate for one second to stay here
Really liked this property and would definitely think about staying again. Location is amazing. Only a very short walk along the seafront to Methoni village. While we preferred the beach most days we spent half a day at the pool and it was a haven. If you have kids, it’s the place to be. Comfortable rooms and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
The rural setting of the hotel is beautiful. I just wish we were there in the warmer months to take advantage of the pool and the beach (walking distance).
We came to the area to golf nearby. It was only an easy 35 minute drive along the coast. We will stay here again!!
This is a little gem of a hotel! Individual suites with full facilities and generous provisions: coffee eggs, bread, butter and fruit. It was super clean and very spacious and the owners could not have been nicer. We were gifted a bottle of their own olive oil.
We had a few great days in Afentiko Pigadi. Marios heartly welcomed us and gave a few instructions. He's a very polite and courteous guy, but knows how to hold distance as well.
The pool and the area around were great, Methoni is worth one or more day trips.
Very well equipped, clean and modern interior. The view and feeling of tranquility while relaxing in the terrace are unique. The location is very convenient to visit nearby attractions (methoni, pylos, foinikounta etc.). The hosts are so kind and helpful!
It was an ideal location in Methoni, not too far away but far enough to be peaceful and quiet, the lovely views and the plentiful supply of crisp brilliant white sheets and towels and also Maria’s warm welcome and friendliness
