We were welcomed like family -- with raki and fresh watermelon, in the traditional Cretan way -- and felt like family the entire time. The homestay is also animal-friendly and our host had the cutest two dogs and one magical kitty. The location itself is excellent -- staggering views across Souda Bay and relatively close to many other beaches, sites, and local restaurants (though you will need a car, of course). Honestly one of the best places we've stayed in.

The place is great. It’s located quite near the river and the village taverns. The owner was lovely and welcoming. The room is spacious, has a balcony with the shade of vines and a very cool rooftop with spectacular view where you can chill and enjoy the evening and morning. Highly recommended.

Don't let first impressions spoil your stay. The building looks like it is in need of major renovation, but inside the room the furnishings are comfortable and accommodating. The downtown are including restaurants and super markets are very close by. Elena was a good host!
