Solo traveler here. I was doing some writing on Amorgos and I had a wonderful time at the Hotel Minoa. The hotel staff were all really friendly and genuine. Full of character and the restaurant next door was brilliant too. One of the most memorable hotels I’ve stayed in Greece (I’ve stayed in a lot)

It was self catering, but there was facilities to make our breakfast and two lovely areas to sit outside and eat privately.

The owners were super nice a polite. We were treated like family members. They gave us many tips for restaurants and beaches. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing! We will come back for sure!

Our top floor Deluxe Suite with terrace and a sea view was perfect for our 6 nights on Amorgos. A good double bed, kitchen with hot plate, a sandwich toaster, fridge, electric jug and a coffee maker. Air conditioning in the bedroom, wardrobe, safe, side table, TV and a compact bathroom with a great shower. Our room was serviced & had the bins emptied daily which was a nice touch and the bed changed after 3 nights. Out side our private terrace had views directly over the bay, a large sun bed, small table & 2 chairs & a clothes drying rack. Plenty of space outside to relax. The port less than a minute away as is the supermarket. The bus station is a 5 - 6 minutes walk - check the timetable (buy the tickets on the bus).
Surrounded by a garden, the Cycladic-style Castelopetra is just 2 km from Katapola Port and 4 km from Amorgos Chora. It offers air-conditioned studios with free WiFi and panoramic Aegean Sea views.

if you think Santorini is a bit busy and crowded then head to this island for a bit of the feel of how Greece was 30 years ago
With excellent restaurants and secluded beaches
( but you are going to need to hire a car or motorbike although the distances you travel a short , from Katapola to far north 30 min and to the far south 30 min and some of the most spectacular drives you will experience anywhere

Katapola is very convenient because the port is there.
Katapola is very convenient because the port is there. It is recommended if you are going to rent a car, because there is easy access to Chora and the rest of the island. It is a quiet place and has a lot of Tavernas. "Mouragio" is recommended for fresh fish. The salad with Xinotiron is a must try in Amorgos. Xilokeratidi is a nice long walk from Katapola (maybe 15 minutes) , where one can enjoy the sunset. Enjoy your cocktails at "Fata Morgana" and an amazing pulled pork sandwich. "Yukali" on the other hand offers fresh mussels and seafood pasta topped with excellent service. If you like a long hike continue your walk from Xilokeratidi to Agia Paraskevi for the sunset. It is amazing.

Quieter than other big islands and still plenty of good restaurants, rental properties and cars available. An unexpected extra was live music in a garden setting just steps from our lodging on the hillside above the port. Recommend renting a car and seeing other parts of Amorgos as well. I have been to the island twice and would go again!

Katapola is quiet and charming with a good selection of restaurants around the picturesque harbour. We visited at the end of May when it wasn't busy and the island's landscape was greener and dotted with colourful wild flowers - an ideal time for walkers.

Nice atmosphere at night, lots of bars and restaurants, and yet a quieter atmosphere compared to other busy Islands. I enjoyed having dinner at Youkali, in Katapola, and the stunning landscape of the island.
Location is very well connected by bus with other places of the island, however, in the late afternoon you might need to take a taxi. Convenient as we arrived by boat from Naxos and wanted to drop off luggages, get a shower and go out to explore the island. Don’t miss the monastery with the view over the grand blue beach, the village of Chora and walking around in Aegiali. You can also do some hiking between traditional villages.

It is just a beautiful little place with good snorkelling near a tiny church on a headland near Meltezi beach. We ate at a number of tavernas but the best was "The Corner" run by Nikos and his wife Olga. The food is superb! I don't know how he manages to maintain such a diverse menu of mostly traditional Greek dishes. It's easy to get around either by bus or hired car or motorbike. There is absolutely nothing we would avoid if we went there again, which we most certainly will do!
Lovely cosy, clean, well furnished room, the best bathroom we've had in Greece so far. Nice to have a proper shower with screen although still.hand held shower head.
Comfy beds, nice linen. Great quiet area and lovely little garden area, coukd hear cockerels felt rural. 5 min walk to the port. Ignore mosns about steps, there's a handful then you go along a flat path. No problem walking there at all unless you've a disability. Amorgos and Katapola are lovely and we had a great stay and would return. Very relaxing.
1. Location - just steps from port and surrounded by cafes. Was shown to sister Hotel Minoa which was closer to these convenience and on the level but still chose Landeris despite stairs as it is quieter and boasts big rooftop verandah with clear view of harbour.
2. Staff - most friendly n helpful and just simply nice. Realised belatedly was charged the same even though I changed from a double room to an apartment. Appreciate the kind n warm welcome of owner.
3. Good water pressure n well appointed space.
The room we stayed in was new with beautiful decor. The room and bathroom were spacious so there was plenty of room for 3 of us with 3 large cases. The balcony had a sea view and the atmosphere was peaceful. It was so convenient as Thomas’s is smack in the middle of Katapola. Angie was very helpful upon our arrival and the rooms would be cleaned every day if you wanted that - which we didn’t. I could not fault the place and would highly recommend it.
We were warmly met by Cristos at the ferry and he helped us with the luggage to our room. As the views are spectacular from this Pension there is a fair climb. Cristos used a map to explain the various beaches, attractions on the Island and suggested restaurants too! We rented a car from Cristos too. He made it easy and affordable. A must if you want to discover Amorgos. We enjoyed our time in Katapola and our stay at The Big Blue.
The room was spatious, clean and very comfortable. The highlight was the big balcony with a magnificent view over the bay of Katapola. It takes a little bit of work to get up to the apartment, especially with the heavy piece of luggage we had. Something to consider in advance.
Antonis is a very helpful and generous host. He accommodated us with everything we needed and even brought us big pieces of delicious cake every day.
This is my second time in Amorgos. The island is heavenly and owners of the hotel Ionna and Stamatis are the best hosts ever. Their hospitality, kindness and love for Amorgos make the difference. My room was big enough, very clean, good a/c, good view and very quiet which is so important to me cause I have hard time sleeping sometimes. Over all Landeris is the home away from home for me.
Beautifully clean apartment with all amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Mikalis was a great host with information about the area. Water, juice, coffee, biscuits and homemade cake provided which was nice. Aa amazing view over the port of Katapola - perfect to sit out in an evening with a drink. We would definitely stay there again.
Excellent 3 day stay at this wonderful place. Staff ( especially, Joanna and Andrea's) were incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and pool area was very comfortable. Short 15 min walk to lovely town of Katapola which has some very nice bars and restaurants. Very relaxing stay.
Highly recommend this hotel.
We have only positive impressions of our stay at the hotel. The room has everything you need and there is a very nice view of the mountain, palm trees and the town. There is a shop and port just 2 minutes away. We were also offered a good deal on car hire, it was the cheapest in town.
We recommend this hotel!
Very cute appartement with a wonderful balcony. Best of all: the nicest host you could amagine! He helped us a lot.
Thank you Giannis for everything!
When we will come to Amorgos again we will definitely stay at Porto Katapola again.
Can really recommend.
Everything. perfect location in a perfect setting. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the room we had had a beautiful view across the bay. Katapola is a dream place that we intend to visit again and will definitely stop at Hotel Minoa.
Everything was exceptional (indoors and outdoors). Clean and comfortable room in a perfect location (walking distance from all spots at Katapola). The host is great, super friendly and helpful. Totally recommended.
A very cute hotel that is steps from the bay. Rose pedals on bed at checkin. Clean and well organized room. Water provided and our room had a nice deck. The location is very quiet and no problems sleeping!
Great location- room was very big with plenty of space- huge balcony overlooking the port in Katapola. Venetia was the host and she was very accommodating. Thank you Venetia.
Andreas and his friend are really fantastic and they made us feel at home. The location is comfortable and the view on the port of Katapola amazing, especially at sunset.
beautiful view, so close to town and the family running the property is so friendly. I appreciate that they met us at the port and walked us to the hotel.
