Solo traveler here. I was doing some writing on Amorgos and I had a wonderful time at the Hotel Minoa. The hotel staff were all really friendly and genuine. Full of character and the restaurant next door was brilliant too. One of the most memorable hotels I’ve stayed in Greece (I’ve stayed in a lot)
Located in Katapola Village, the traditionally built Casaprimavera offers air-conditioned accommodation with free WiFi access. Facilities include a shared kitchenette.

It was self catering, but there was facilities to make our breakfast and two lovely areas to sit outside and eat privately.
Just 50 metres from Katapola Port, Villa Katapoliani I features accommodation with a balcony. It offers traditionally decorated rooms and studios, as well as free Wi-Fi in rooms.

Our top floor Deluxe Suite with terrace and a sea view was perfect for our 6 nights on Amorgos. A good double bed, kitchen with hot plate, a sandwich toaster, fridge, electric jug and a coffee maker. Air conditioning in the bedroom, wardrobe, safe, side table, TV and a compact bathroom with a great shower. Our room was serviced & had the bins emptied daily which was a nice touch and the bed changed after 3 nights. Out side our private terrace had views directly over the bay, a large sun bed, small table & 2 chairs & a clothes drying rack. Plenty of space outside to relax. The port less than a minute away as is the supermarket. The bus station is a 5 - 6 minutes walk - check the timetable (buy the tickets on the bus).
Surrounded by a garden, the Cycladic-style Castelopetra is just 2 km from Katapola Port and 4 km from Amorgos Chora. It offers air-conditioned studios with free WiFi and panoramic Aegean Sea views.

Set 500 metres from Katapola Beach, Gialos Studios offers accommodation with a patio. This beachfront property offers access to a balcony.

Everything was absolutely amazing! The studio is very comfortable and well decorated. Everything is carefully thought of and you feel at home from the first second you step in. Kudos to the first class shower, a rare thing in the Cyclades. Very modern and efficient AC is also greatly appreciated.
You will be able to enjoy a wonderful terrace right above the sea with an tremendous view over the bay of Katapola and the harbor. The studio also has a direct access to the sea below that will allow you to dive in clear blue water after going down a few steps.
No need for a car, you will be within a short walking distance from a sand beach (10min), very good restaurants on this side of the bay (5min) and the harbor (10 minutes walking along the sea) with the bus stop to visit the other parts of the Amorgos.
Giannis, the host, is very thoughtful and kind, always here if you need anything. A true paradise to discover Amorgos!
Only 100 metres from Katapola Port, Anna Studios offers charming, Cycladic-style studios with kitchenettes and free WiFi. Guests enjoy sea views from their rooms, or from the 4,000 m² garden.

if you think Santorini is a bit busy and crowded then head to this island for a bit of the feel of how Greece was 30 years ago
With excellent restaurants and secluded beaches
( but you are going to need to hire a car or motorbike although the distances you travel a short , from Katapola to far north 30 min and to the far south 30 min and some of the most spectacular drives you will experience anywhere

Katapola is very convenient because the port is there.
Katapola is very convenient because the port is there. It is recommended if you are going to rent a car, because there is easy access to Chora and the rest of the island. It is a quiet place and has a lot of Tavernas. "Mouragio" is recommended for fresh fish. The salad with Xinotiron is a must try in Amorgos. Xilokeratidi is a nice long walk from Katapola (maybe 15 minutes) , where one can enjoy the sunset. Enjoy your cocktails at "Fata Morgana" and an amazing pulled pork sandwich. "Yukali" on the other hand offers fresh mussels and seafood pasta topped with excellent service. If you like a long hike continue your walk from Xilokeratidi to Agia Paraskevi for the sunset. It is amazing.

Quieter than other big islands and still plenty of good restaurants, rental properties and cars available. An unexpected extra was live music in a garden setting just steps from our lodging on the hillside above the port. Recommend renting a car and seeing other parts of Amorgos as well. I have been to the island twice and would go again!

Katapola is quiet and charming with a good selection of restaurants around the picturesque harbour. We visited at the end of May when it wasn't busy and the island's landscape was greener and dotted with colourful wild flowers - an ideal time for walkers.

Nice atmosphere at night, lots of bars and restaurants, and yet a quieter atmosphere compared to other busy Islands. I enjoyed having dinner at Youkali, in Katapola, and the stunning landscape of the island.
Location is very well connected by bus with other places of the island, however, in the late afternoon you might need to take a taxi. Convenient as we arrived by boat from Naxos and wanted to drop off luggages, get a shower and go out to explore the island. Don’t miss the monastery with the view over the grand blue beach, the village of Chora and walking around in Aegiali. You can also do some hiking between traditional villages.

It is just a beautiful little place with good snorkelling near a tiny church on a headland near Meltezi beach. We ate at a number of tavernas but the best was "The Corner" run by Nikos and his wife Olga. The food is superb! I don't know how he manages to maintain such a diverse menu of mostly traditional Greek dishes. It's easy to get around either by bus or hired car or motorbike. There is absolutely nothing we would avoid if we went there again, which we most certainly will do!
Pension Titika is a little gem. I stayed for a week and had a really lovely time listening to the gentle waves lapping on the beach from my little terrace. The room was comfortable and cosy and I felt very much at home. The pension is in a really great location with everything you need close by and Katapola itself is a really charming and laid back spot with nice tavernas, great walking trails and genuinely lovely people. Titika is a really lovely host and it was a true pleasure to meet her and stay in her pension. I will be back -)
Best place to stay on Amorgos! Such lovely staff! If I return to Amorgos, I would definitely stay there again, highly recommendable. I could also rent a car from the owners. And they made a traditional Easter Party for all the guests, it was incredible. Beautiful and carefully made and decorated rooms with nice view, just above the harbour and therefore easy to reach (a few steps by feet, central parking outside the town). Katapola is a good location as base for exploring the island.
Katapola is very small and cute so everything is in close proximity but Landeris is literally just across the main port. Room is spacious enough, nicely decorated and sparkling clean. What makes this place extra special is certanly Ioanna and lovely staff. She is full of good energy and you can feel the love of Amorgos in her heart. She’s there for everything you ask and her hospitability makes the difference. Also they serve an excellent open buffet breakfast, certainly a must try.
Lovely Cycladic house, very clean, private and quiet and in an excellent location near Katapola and 10 minutes from Chora. The garden is perfect for taking your breakfast or relaxing at evening. Giorgos was an exceptional host, very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended for your vacations in Amorgos offering a true Cycladic experience. The house is exactly as it looks in the photos and all amenities were all we could ask for. We look forward to coming back soon!!
Amazing hotel and great location! Also, the room was impeccably clean and smelled great and the owners so kind and amazing! I also have to say a big thank you, since they really accommodated a difficult request of ours with our suitcases late at night which I will never forget! such polite and kind people! Highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Amorgos - I know it's going to be the only hotel I visit when I next go to Amorgos :)
The room was spatious, clean and very comfortable. The highlight was the big balcony with a magnificent view over the bay of Katapola. It takes a little bit of work to get up to the apartment, especially with the heavy piece of luggage we had. Something to consider in advance.
Antonis is a very helpful and generous host. He accommodated us with everything we needed and even brought us big pieces of delicious cake every day.
The staff is exceptional: Dorina, Vangelis, Elena & Antreas, thank you so much for making our stay unforgettable. Dorina’s home made food is exquisite and Elena’s service during breakfast is excellent. Antreas, the hotel manager (or « consigliere » as I called him during our stay), is just so accommodating. He is everywhere, making sure all is perfect. What a great team, we will see you all in the near future for sure!
we highly recommend Pension Barbara! Barbara is very friendly, and is attentive to every detail. Our apartment was spacious, had a great view, and was well equipped. Plus, Pension Barbara is located in the center of Katapola, and Katapola is in the center of Amorgos, so it is a perfect place to set off from to explore the town and island.
The host was excellent in assisting us with all our needs. We appreciated the ride to the hotel after our ferry ride, even though I forgot to make a reservation for one. We also appreciated the suggestions and the car rental that came right to our door. The location is also great for getting to and from the ferry. Thank you!
We have only positive impressions of our stay at the hotel. The room has everything you need and there is a very nice view of the mountain, palm trees and the town. There is a shop and port just 2 minutes away. We were also offered a good deal on car hire, it was the cheapest in town.
We recommend this hotel!
I loved my few days lasr week staying at the Amorgion in Amorgos. Everything was exceptional (indoors and outdoors). Clean and comfortable room in a perfect location (walking distance from all spots at Katapola). The host is great, super friendly and helpful. Totally recommended.
INCREDIBLE property … beautiful, new, clean, nicest place in amorgos. Most kind hosts, very accommodating, very helpful, overall one of the best experiences I’ve had abroad in Greece.
