Avli Lounge Apartments, hotel in Agia Triada

This former Venetian lord’s house is located in Rethymnon’s Old Town. Avli Lounge Apartments offer charming suites, a rooftop terrace with hot tub and fine dining.

The restaurant is fantastic and the breakfasts and dinner there (including the staff) are why the score we gave isn't lower. I wish the lodging part of our Avli experience matched to the great dining experience there.

Kapsaliana Village Hotel, hotel in Agia Triada

Surrounded by the largest olive grove on the island of Crete, Kapsaliana Village is nestling in a peaceful location with superb views of the countryside and the sea.

This was an oasis of a place. The most gorgeous hotel I have ever stayed in. From its history to the service to the seriously oppressive beauty of this place, it was almost too much to bear. The hotel is surrounded by nature and gorgeous greenery and so it smells incredible. I kept telling myself all my senses were overwhelmed. The rooms were quiet and the beds so comfortable. I slept so deeply and I normally have terrible insomnia... It was so hard to leave. Depressing actually. This place is like art came to live and you are living in it. Its beauty is captivating and warm. I loved the amazing hike you can do from the Arkady Monastery to the hotel. You can arrange with the hotel to be dropped off at monastery and then you hike back thru gorgeous paths and gorges. Breathtaking views and private. The staff at the hotel offered world class service and attention. They were wonderful and so easy to talk to and happy to assist with any request. The breakfast was a bounty of delicious fresh locally-sourced healthy foods. Overall, this was an unbelievable experience. This hotel should be in everyone’s bucket list. Thank you Kapsalianá for the most incredible experience.

It’s a lovely place to visit but as Crete is a big island you need to make sure it’s ideal for where you want to go. In Agia Triada we were a little far out for where I wanted to go but that was my fault. Would def recommend as a resort to visit lovely friendly people and excellent restaurants. Getting around was really easy with plenty of water based activities. Upano was our favourite place to eat on the Main Street.
