The room was very basic, but we didn't expect too much for the price. The extremely friendly and gracious staff, and delicious breakfast, made up for the somewhat cramped and old fashioned facilities.

Hotel was very conveniently located in the village of Ancient Olympia; we could easily walk to the ancient site, museums, and restaurants/cafes within minutes. We were also able to park on the street next to the hotel. The hotel had a "homey" feeling. There was a nice spread for breakfast, and the hotel staff made some recommendations for restaurants for dinner. Nice breakfast area. Room had a balcony and a view of the church square.
Hotel Ilis is located at the entrance of the town of Ancient Olympia, approximately 656 feet from the center. The museum and the ancient stadium are 1.9 mi away.

Obviously, the main reason to visit Olympia is fror the ancient ruins of the Stadium and surrounding artifacts. It is a full day to see everything. We didn't engage the audio guide, as it was a bit complicated with a pre-set-up and download. But I recommend going into the museum to see the model of the area as it was in use to more fully enjoy and identify the ruins. Walking under the arched tunnel into the stadium made the hair on my arms stand up - such an energy.

Olympia was quite a surprise for me.
Olympia was quite a surprise for me.
Considering its a small town it had all you could need.
The ancient archeological site is a must see for anyone interested in history and the museum is great also and a must see as well.
The town is cosy with everything walking distance and at night its something else with restaurants and bars and shops all lit up and vibrant plus wide tree lined streets that make it a pleasure to walk through.
I can definitely recommend it and maybe a stop over on the way to the Ionian islands.
Ohhh forgot to say that one of the nicest restaurants is Taverna Orestis where i had one of the nicest meals iv had in my 9 weeks in Greece i can highly recommend it.

One night stay is enough for visiting the Archeological Site and the Museums. The small the town has only two major streets, one with shady restaurants and the other with shops. You can fint not only the Olimpia museums but a small museum about Archimedes which is really worth to visit.
It is quite a long time to get to Olimpia from the direction of Corinth, but you can choose the slower route across the hills which hides lovely villages.

Small village which is mainly famous for the museum.
Small village which is mainly famous for the museum. Besides this, there was not much of interest around. Therefore, if you are mainly interested in visiting the museum just plan for one night and be on your way.
Conveniently located in Olympia (although to be fair, Olympia is small and everything is convenient) at a budget price. Hotel Pelops is nothing fancy, but you get the feeling that it has hosted many visitors to the archaeological site over the years, and remains unchanged :) We really appreciated the little map the proprietor drew for us at check-in. Don't miss the Olympic torches in the breakfast room!
This property was in a good location just 10 minutes from Olympia. The staff was welcoming, the room was very clean and had all amenities and a great view from the little terrace. In fact the entire hotel was very clean and well maintained and the pool was a refreshing delight. They also had a very good restaurant with beautiful views, great service and food. I would highly recommend Bacchus!
Enormous room, plus large balcony with views over Olympia. Hotel also has good sized swimming pool which was most welcome at end of a long hot day of driving. Location is excellent - on hill overlooking the town - away from the town noise but still very short walk (about 5 minutes) into the main street and restaurant area. And good breakfast selection also.
The king size bed and bedroom had a cute patio and the living room had to twin beds. It was cute and decorated nice. There was Nescafe and Tea for the morning. It was in a great location near many restaurants and walking distance to the archeological sites. The host was friendly. Instructions were clear. I would stay there again.
Great place to stay in Olympia. We were a family of 6 and stayed in a spacious apartment with enough room for everyone. The location is quiet, all main attractions are within 10-15 min walk and so are tavernas and coffee shops. Please only bear in mind the hotel is on the hill so coming back from the town is a bit of a steep road.
Such a lovely place near the Olympia Archeological site. The hotel is comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the setting is stunning that beckons you to linger. They have a pool that is welcoming after exploring the the ancient site. The dinner was wonderful and the breakfast met our needs.
The hotel is lovely. There owner met us at the door, and, took us to our rooms. He gave us a map and directions to the Olympia sites (which is within walking distance from the hotel). They also have an informational channel on the TV all about Olympia. A great extra touch. Definitely Recommend!
Kostas is the best owner we found in Greece! What an amazing experience he make and what kind and energetic is his way to communicate with guests. The place is quite central, very walkable to ancient Olympia and museums, we even didn’t had to use our car there.
The hospitality was great and the pool area lovely. The hotel is also located in a great area away from the noise of the city, but a close walk to many restaurants and shops. The Ancient Site of Olympia is only a 10 minute walk away. The rooms were comfortable.
Easy to park a car (Olympias doesn’t really care about parking on the streets), there’s a warm fireplace and a bookshelf near the breakfast zone, the staff is friendly and gives useful information about nice taverns nearby.
The Hotel was located very close to Olympia site and the main street with lots of access to restaurants and bars. Very clean and tidy hotel with friendly helpful staff. Parking was available right outside the hotel
Damiano welcomed us with much valuable information about the town and the hotel. He grabbed our luggage and even gave us a choice of 2 rooms. The breakfast was very good, the room was spacious, spotless and quiet.
Very close to the Olympia archaeological sites, we walked from the hotel. Also right in town, close to main street, restaurants, shops, etc. Parking on street was easy to find. Nice size balcony.
Location was on a nice quite street, plenty of parking available and close to nearby Restaurants
Friendly host explained the nearby attractions and gave us a map.
