This is a hostel so don't expect a 5* hotel. The room was clean the beds were a bit "springy" also all the rooms had en-suite, this hostel doesn't have parking, it was on street breakfast was in the kitchen/diner as was a help yourself, there was a good selection.

Compact wee town centre with a big Co-op supermarket.
Compact wee town centre with a big Co-op supermarket. People seem genuinely friendly & helpful. A train & bus station, nice beach & Scrabster nearby for ferries to Orkney. Good base for exploring round about & into Sutherland too for the beautiful golden sandy beaches an hour or so away at Armadale, Bettyhill, Torrisdale & Coldbackie. Lots of Stone Age relics to explore too.
A lovely but long journey up by train. Takes about 4 hours from Inverness. Only issues were leaving Thurso by public transport to catch links from Inverness to go further south as just 4 trains a day & nothing after 4.28pm weekdays. No buses seemed to leave Thurso for Inverness after 11.50. Buses take around 3 1/2 hours to Inverness. Good to book taxis as far in advance as possible as get booked up fairly quickly.

Hotel position and friendly staff were good, but the online description of the hotel and facilities was not accurate. Very disappointing.
- room not serviced for three days
- initial room smelly and mouldy
- had to ask for soap and toilet paper
- advertised food items for breakfast not provided
- bath leaked
- no phone in room

Some of the best place to eat in UK.
Some of the best place to eat in UK. Outdoors is its selling point, if King Charles III has a holiday retreat nearby it must be the best in the World. Winter nights are dark and cold with limited night life.

We used Thurso as a jumping off and landing point for the Orkney islands. I wish we had more time in the Thurso area as I believe there is much more to explore. And don't miss the Sri Lankan restaurant in town!! your dinner may take awhile but that's because it is being cooked up fresh.

Thurso is a town that has seen better days, but most people are going to Thurso to visit John O Groats or to catch a ferry, rather than for the town itself. We stayed out of season so did not visit the beach. We enjoyed our walk to Dunnet Head, and spent our 2nd day visiting John O Groats and Wick. We recommend the Thurso Visitor centre / Museum (free entry, but donatiion requested)
This is our second visit to Braeside, and it was just as outstanding as the first a year ago. The quality of the pods have maintained a high standard, and the extra size to them makes a big difference in comparison to other pods we have stayed in. The kitchen area is big enough to prepare a meal, and the shower was the best we had across the multiple properties we stayed in during our Scotland holiday. There is also the added bonus of the hot tub with a view! What more can you possibly want?!
We were very happy with everything at the hotel and will recommend it to our friends.Room was a good size and comfortable.Breakfast.We had continental and were very satisfied.Dinner. ...The soup was great, the main course was more than ample and the choice of dessert was good. Be prepared for the seagulls though. I had a red car in the morning it was black and white. The receptionist put me in the direction of nearest car wash though.Thanks.
We were driving the North Coast 500 and found this wonderful modern BnB just outside Thurso. Antoinette, our hostess, was friendly and very helpful with suggestions on where to eat dinner. Views from here were beautiful and the added bonus is that they have a half dozen highland cows. Apple (a highland cow) and a recent mom to Wee Hamish was in the pasture right next to the house. We would go back here in a heartbeat
This a modern hotel close to the centre of Thurso. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We had a large modern room with a very comfortable bed and a view across the city. It was very quiet at night. The ensuite was a good size and spotlessly clean. There was good wifi and plenty of free parking on-site. The hotel has an excellent restaurant for dinner and breakfast was quick and easy for our early departure.
Mark and Trish are very caring and evidently enjoy running their B&B. They were very accommodating of me cycling and provided safe storage for my bike. After my one night staying there, I cycled from there to John O'Groats and back towards Tongue - they kindly looked after my 2 heavy panniers whilst I did this.
Very big, nicely furnished room. Best variety of breakfast options I've seen in North of Scotland.
Enormous room, fresh-cooked breakfast, very homely hospitality. The bed was super comfortable. Quiet residential location a short block from the beach, and about 5 minutes walk into the city center. The owner provided a very extensive set of guides to the area, and all the staff I interacted with were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. If you like history, the house itself dates partly back to 1750.
Everything about the pods was brilliant, from the pod itself to the views and scenery. The owner was happy to help with any issues we had or anything we needed.
The bed was very comfortable and there was ample space in the pod for the two of us.
The pod itself was very clean and was good to have the luxury of a shower, a fridge and a microwave whilst away.
Location was perfect - beautiful view out over Thurso Bay, weather was lovely for most of our stay. the site is within easy walking distance to the town and the facilities on site are excellent. The caravan was clean and warm with all the home comforts and the booking and service while we were there was very well managed by Tanya - what a star.
Westlea B & B is gorgeous! We had a very large, beautifully decorated room with a great water view. The bed was very comfortable & the seating area overlooking the water was lovely. Michael & Karen are the best hosts! Michael had us laughing from the first hello. Breakfast was delicious! Thank you!
The room was stunningly beautiful. The large window overlooking the sea was magnificent. Our host Michael was very friendly and helpful with recommending placed to eat and things to do in the area. The breakfast was one of the best I had in my entire Scotland trip.
10 minutes walk from the station a fantastic little find on my travels in Scotland that I will use again Room was very nice food excellent short walk from the hotel to the beach front which is quite something to see at dawn ☀️ I recommend.
Everything was excellent. Our host even volunteered to drive us to the ferry when the taxi was unavailable. She was accommodating and so friendly. And the Manor House was perfectly located for walking about Thurso.
We arrived to a nice friendly welcome from the lady at reception who told us everything we needed to know regarding times for breakfast, lunch, dinner etc and all staff in the hotel were friendly and polite
Friendly welcome and friendly staff, comfortable room with a decent Tv. Fantastic breakfast with locally sourced goods. Best night sleep so far in Scotland doing the NC500.
