I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.

Very touristy not quite what we’d expected restaurants we sampled not as good as on the highlands NC500 so for us I wouldn’t do Skye in favour of the Highlands I’d spend longer on the NC500 west side.

We loved Rockview.
We loved Rockview. The view of the harbor from our room was spectacular. We could easily walk
To the town of Portree to eat and shop! Location was perfect to sightsee . The owners were so helpful and nice! Would highly recommend Rockview!
Fantastic location, right in the centre of Portree near the harbour and bars/restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable, great to have use of the washing machine (and powder left for us) as we had a few mucky items from our day trips. Spacious double bedroom, corner sofa which pulls out into a large sofa bed. It was perfect for the dogs too as we didn't want to take them to a hotel. It's usually alot more expensive to find dog friendly accommodation but the price for this apartment was very reasonable.
Host Margaret is great. We were getting a bit late for our booked tour activity in the breakfast table, and she dropped us in the town. So gentle and welcoming woman. The property is maintained exceptionally well. Good breakfast with fantastic view of Old man of Storr.
Note: For people using public transport, Portree is 22 mins walk filled with nice views. For arriving, there is a bus stop named Isle of Skye Candles visitor center (stop before Portree square). That stop is mere 5-6 mins walk from the property.
Staff are so friendly always smiling ,happy to help and very welcoming. Food downstairs in The Antlers Restaurant is lovely and helpings are good too
.Right in the central square of Portree with shops ,chemist ,pubs, cafes ,coffee shops, post office local buses, tour buses ,taxis etc just right out the front door of the hotel or a few minutes walk If you.
*Advise you to reserve your Dinner Table when making your booking .The restaurant is popular with Islanders and Holiday makers so it can be busy.
The room was very well curated. Compact but very efficient. The host was very nice, always available for all our needs. The location of the BnB is absolutely perfect. It is not directly in front of the harbour but it only 2 minutes by car from Portree's centre. It has lots of space for parking and for people travelling by car is right next a gas station. Overall, a perfect base in Skye to go and see all the magnificent natural wonders of the area.
By far and away the best accomodation of our 8 day trip to scotland. A huge room built by the side of the owners house and a fantastic cooked breakfast brought to you on a tray the next morning. Owners were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Dont hesitate to book this accomodation if you're visiting portree on the isle of skye.
A wonderful experience.
The location within Portree was incredibly convenient & walkable. The Skye Inn was quaint & cozy and met all of our needs. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious and on site bar was an added bonus!
The private parking was close & all rooms are on ground level so no stairs were involved. It was a lovely stay for a 1 night passing through The Isle of Skye!
This is a very comfortable hotel is great location overlooking the harbour of Portree. Wonderful views of the nearby mountains. A good base to explore this wonderful island. The room and facilities were excellent. The staff professional, accommodating and very friendly. The food was of a very good standard and there was a good choice of wines.
Everything was wonderful! Amazing lodge with great location. Nigel provided some great snacks, a nice surprise upon arrival. Interior of the lodge is modern and well outfitted. Beds were very comfortable.
4 miles into Portree, 3 miles to Old Man of Storr. Easy access to the entire island. A wonderful base camp for exploring the beauty of Skye.
Thank you Rachel and Stuart for our stay, everything was perfect! Great cozy hotel, with an amazing view on the harbour. Close to all the restaurants and Portree must see. We went there for my friend birthday and Rachel and Stuart were kind enough to organise a welcome surprise to my friend. Thank you, we will come back 🏴💙🤍
We were pleasantly surprised with the level of luxury that we felt with the pods! There was a tv, portable heater, personal bathroom and shower, pillows and base sheet on the beds. Only a 5 min drive to Portree. The reception/food area was closed the few days we were there, but there were no problems with checkin.
The location of the hotel was really great, in the iconic Portree Harbour. The staff was really helpful, the room was cozy and clean.
The hotel itself doesn't have parking, but it's easy to park in the streets around or in the village square.
Breakfast was superb, with so much choice and amazing harbour views.
Very close to Portree and many other activities on Skye. Hosts were very helpful in recommending outdoor activities that we may not have found without their input. Kitchen was well furnished and had all the things we needed to make meals, and on-site laundry was great for getting all our clothes washed mid-trip.
Clean and cozy home on a quiet street, within walking distance to Portree habor if you're a good walker. A good size for our group of five. The hosts have done little extras to make sure their guests have a good stay. Perfect base location for visiting all the places we wanted to see on Skye.
House was spacious warm and very comfortable. So well equipped and clean. Location 5 minutes from Portree Centre
Absolutely beautiful Loch on the doorstep-
Best restaurant in Skye is the Cuillin Hills Hotel with great views of the loch and is within walking distance from the house
Wow. Absolutely great hotel and spectacular location just out of town of Portree. Room was large, perfect and the restaurant on site is top notch. Every detail seems to be fastidiously looked after, so our experience as guests was very relaxing. View from the dining room unbeatable.
The view of Portree harbor from our room was superb. This was the reason we chose this hotel, and it didn't disappoint.
The staff were very personable and helpful, within their ability to meet our needs.
The property is in a perfect location to visiting Portree and other wonderful places in Scotland!
Donna is a wonderful hostess! She give great tips on the area and is very responsive to requests!!
