Skye Backpackers, hotel in Plockton

Facing the seafront in Kyleakin, Skye Backpackers features barbecue facilities. Among the various facilities are a garden and a shared lounge.

This place reminded me of students dormitory. The atmosphere there is very friendly. The room was very clean and had sink which you could use in the morning to avoid queues. The showers were also okay with access to the hot water. There were only 4 girls in the room including me and we had lovely chats for hours! So that’s a perfect place to make new friends. The only problem there is a poor breakfast. You can pay 3.50£ and have a small bun, cereals, juice and fruits which look not very good. But there is a kitchen so if you want to have a proper breakfast, better bring your own products and cook for yourself as there is a lack of restaurants or cafes in that area. In general everything was fine and stuff on the reception was very polite.

Located in Balmacara and only 5.1 km from Kyle of Lochalsh, Cozy Shepherd hut 20 by 7 feet with boxed in high double bed provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking....

What we liked the most: the hut was very well and nicely decorated. Gillian made some items herself. The attention for detail is lovely. The location is absolutely perfect, calm and quiet. You have privacy and your own entrance. Everything you needed was there. We only stayed for one night, but would like to return again.

Featuring free WiFi, Lochalsh Road is situated in Kyle of Lochalsh. The compact room in this homestay features a a small double bed, flat-screen TV with satellite channels and en-suite bathroom.

The room was compact but this had been indicated in the information so was not a surprise. It contained everything necessary. There were some instructions regarding parking however this was not problem.

We went to Plockton in the year 2000 and really like it so we made a diversion of the NC500 to go back. But we had a problem finding places to eat all the hotels and resturants were fully booked. Luckily there was a fish and chip shop open, the next night we had dinner at lunch time so I sugrgest you pre book before you go

Small little and nice town but with nothing to do.

Small little and nice town but with nothing to do. It is remorse from everything, the closest gas station is 8 mile away, there are only two restaurants serving only dinner, nothing for lunch except fish&chips from a fish&chips bar, youbhave to book table god knows when before the dining time in order to get a table...The town has no food store, you can not buy a bottle of watter anywhere. BOTTOM LINE: STAY AWAY FROM THIS TOWN! (Please be advised: I traveled alone, had i've been with a family for sure we would remain without dinner)

Plockton is attractive and charming, but difficult to get in and out of due to the number of single-track roads. Its popularity is its downfall - it ends up becoming crowded and awkward to get around. In addition, there is very little to do here unless you're a boater. If you are looking for a genuine get-away, chances are you won't be getting away if you come here.

It’s a beautiful little place with two good pubs serving real ales and excellent food. Well worth spending a couple of nights. The surrounding area is very picturesque. We’ll placed for walkers. The weather is typically Scottish!

I only stayed for one night so I didn't get to enjoy any of the local tourist attractions. I went there because I'm a fan of the cult horror film The Wicker Man. Plockton features very briefly in the early scenes and is used as the harbour for Summerisle.

Beautiful town with an 'interesting' drive in and out.

Beautiful town with an 'interesting' drive in and out. Locals range from friendly to slightly odd. Some of the Plockton hotel bar staff/punters were annoyingly middle class. Be prepared for snobbery.
