This little apartment was perfect for a home away from home. Clare the host sent a very detailed message with all information for access and a lovely weekend. Upon arrival it was super easy to access and the apartment was super clean, cosy and modern. It was very clear the host has spared no expense to provide clients with a great experience. The facilities were amazing, everything was thought of and it was very easy to make meals and feel right at home. The apartment was warm, cosy and a perfect romantic getaway. A lovely area which provides some lovely walks of varying lengths (downloadable from the Langholm Walks website) and some interesting history. It is a quiet and peaceful and can be used as a base to visit attractions further afield.

At the junction of many roads so easy to go off exploring in different directions. Some beautiful parkland with bridges over the river - and open public toilets! Helpful tourist office with lots of leaflets. Would recommend the prehistoric trail of Eskdale but you may need boots and a bit of energy to get up the steep hills to the forts. People friendly and a useful bakery and large co-op. Lots of buses stopping so may be suitable for a visit by public transport.

The castle & racecourse by the river were lovely, I though areas were a little run-down, but when exploring the town with dogs, you would find those areas. The river walk was lovely, & the town itself was wonderful. We tried to eat in the Pub in town, the barman said we could let the dogs off the leads in the back, but then a young woman told us that we couldn't, this put us off staying for something to eat, which was a shame as the Vegetarian menu looked wonderful.

Langholm is a beautiful town soaked in history.

Langholm is a beautiful town soaked in history. The lovely river Esk runs right through the town. There are several lovely walks in the area, my favourite is round the Duchess's Bridge. There are a few places to eat all very reasonably priced. We had a lovely meal in the Douglas Hotel, the food was excellent, just a small point I felt that the waitresses who served could have been a bit more friendly. I will definately return to Langholm but perhaps choose other accommodation.

    What a lovely little town.

What a lovely little town. Friendly locals and lots to see and do. Douglas Hotel had a lovely restaurant and the food was superb. The bar area was friendly and vibrant. Wish I had been able to have a little look in the lovely shops I saw but as it was the weekend I missed opening hours.

From the moment we entered the Crown Hotel to meet our friends Chris and Janice we were made to feel so so welcome…Everyone was very friendly (staff and locals) and it had a homely feel… Even “Peggy” our cockapoo was given the VIP treatment ( sausages and ham treats) and may have a new boyfriend in “Boris” the resident dog… A special mention must go out to Dave the barman.. a very funny man and probably the “Best barman” in Scotland 😉. Thank you all for making our stay so memorable.

Very welcoming, friendly staff with high quality - mainly traditional - food and a well-stocked bar . The hotel is in an excellent location to explore Langholm and the surrounding area but is also very popular with locals - a very good sign in itself. The atmosphere in the hotel is very relaxing and we were happy to spend some time just chilling with a coffee and newspapers.

We had a pleasant weekend stay. It's a lovely cabin, decent sized rooms, spacious and very cosy and supplied with everything you could possibly need. There wasn't much in Langholm itself for us, but it's just a stones throw away from Gretna gateway and we took a drive to the lake district which was about an hr and half.

Location was very good on main street of Langholm close to a few bars and restaurants. We received a very friendly welcome which was the same during our stay from all the staff. We were provided with a safe location to store our bikes up the back passage of the hotel. Bar was lively with locals.
