We had a great stay here. The place is brand new after a massive refurb - it opened just a month ago. Sam, the host, is one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, and he really went out of his way to make us feel comfy. As pretty much everyone else, we loved the breakfast. I don't know how they source such beautiful berries in the north of Scotland, but they do - mindblowing! Oh, and the complimentary cookies are really good as well. :)

Stayed in the coach house which was self contained with separate entrance and had plenty of room for us to spread out, including a porch for our wet weather gear. There was a large bath as well as a shower and lots of hot water. Chose this as an alternative to camping as the weather was mixed, and would definitely book again. No staff on site and decor quite worn so not a luxury experience, but suited us fine for the price, clean and had everything we needed. Great value for money. The self serve breakfast was a welcome bonus, offering coffee machine, cereals, packaged pastries, juice and long life milk.

Room was generously sized, clean, and quiet. The WiFi worked well. There was a good sized kettle, and were plenty of sockets for devices. I didn't sample the food, so can't comment on that. I only really interacted when I checked in but the staff were friendly and helpful.

Close to both Kingussie Golf Club and Ruthven Barracks, Avondale House is situated in Kingussie and has spa facilities and garden.
