Lovely hotel, a little tired, but staff were great
South-east of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.
In the neighbouring gardens are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife - Lady Godiva - became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest at her husband’s high taxes.
St Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Also here is Coventry Airport, by the Midland Air Museum, whose exhibits include a Vulcan.
The Coventry Transport Museum houses examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Also historic are the canals north of the city centre, lined by Grade II-listed buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Centre.
The city has 2 universities, so naturally features many bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guest houses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.

Sadly, Coventry seems to be more like the Specials Ghost Town than a city of culture. Between the rail station, which looks like it promises wonderful things, and the bus station, which is a workaday terminus, there are so many empty commercial units, it's like walking thru a cemetery for shops.

Hotel is of a much better standard than previously.
Hotel is of a much better standard than previously. Staff were very helpful as needed 2 pillows for bed, not just one. Food was of a good standard and restaurant staff were helpful, plus decent coffee machine now, might need 2 for busy times. Always nice to see the friendly face of Manish on reception. Look forward to our stay next year.

Coventry is an industrial town.
Coventry is an industrial town. After the blitz, not much was left, especially in the city centre. You go to Coventry for two reasons only, for business or to study. If you study architecture and want to understand the town planning of the 1960, when cars were the future of humanity, Coventry is the place to go. Coventry is designed for cars, not for people, not for public transport. From this perspective, it is an interesting place to visit.

I wasn't actually in Coventry.
I wasn't actually in Coventry. I was attending a weekend conference at the University of Warwick. I had two nights accommodation there and needed an 'early bird' night which wasn't available in the conference venue, hence my stay at The Old Mill - which was recommended to me.
A downer for me though is the complex road system around Coventry - multiple roundabouts!

The hotel was very modern inside and nice. The room was nice and clean, it was modern. The breakfast was fantastic, really tasty, fresh and well worth paying for I would 100% recommend. The staff at breakfast were lovely. The hotel was in a great location, on the edge of Coventry City Centre. There was a lovely Greek place not far away. Other restaurants/ takeaways/ pubs and convenience stores right outside the hotel.
Dinner - supurb. The staff were exceptionally attentive and even gave me a private tour with historical insights. There's a lot to see in the hotel that you don't notice unless you're being taken around. Breakfast was spot on. Of note was the room quality for what I paid. Amazing Value. And the location was amazing yet so close to the city centre (Coventry).
The rooms were large and the property was conveniently located for us not far from the city of Coventry and the Airport that I had to be at. When I had wifi problems, the staff sorted them for me. The hotel was obviously once grand but need significant money spent on it to update it.
It was a fabulous stay. The room was spotless, and the hotel lobby was cool and comfortable
The staff were friendly and helpful
Coventry was an adventure from start to finish. I was very sorry to be leaving and will definitely be back
I've stayed here before, it's not the worst hotel but it's too expensive for what it is and a last resort place. It's better than the other cheaper option in the city centre so the one I went with. Beds aren't comfortable.
