It’s an old property so a bit dated in parts but lovely and comfortable.
Staff could not have given me a warmer welcome and were all pleasant, helpful and just lovely. Nothing was any trouble. My room had everything I needed and was warm and comfortable. Food is also to be recommended.

Great pub/restaurant next door. Quiet, 30 minutes by bus into the city centre. USB Port in sockets next to bed to charge phones. Vending machine in lobby with snacks and drinks (water for 1.40£ for 0,33 was a bit pricey, especially when there is no where else to buy warer nearby.

We ate at the hotel. The building is old which is a limiting factor despite the efforts of the staff. The highlight of our stay was a visit to Rosslyn Chapel but other than that there were none. Carlops is a very small hamlet with a population of about 80 people only. If you are travelling in East Lothian try and avoid B roads as they are pitted by potholes.

Easier to get to from Newcastle via A69/A74/A702 than using A1. Only 30 minutes from Edinburgh so easy to visit family and vice-versa. Ate at hotel both nights as food great and restaurant very accommodating.
