Great staff and service. Lovely breakfast options, either continental or full cooked breakfast. Great choice for evening meals including carvery options. Room had everything we needed, loved the touches like leaving recycling next to the bin and having an option for the room to not be cleaned during our stay. Excellent location within 10 minutes walking distance of Loch Lomond with all the facilities there including cruises, children's facilities, cafes, road train, variety of shops. Lovely outside seating area, perfect for our sunny weekend. Secure card entry to hotel rooms and overnight support if required.
Just 5 minutes from Loch Lomond, The Buchanan Arms Hotel & Leisure Club offers free parking and free Wi-Fi. With a whisky bar, stylish rooms and a restaurant, there is also a leisure club.

Location was excellent. Many of the staff were pleasant ( receptionist who greeted us, some of the bar staff)

From the minute we arrived the level of service was shocking, admittedly we arrived 2 hrs early but after a 6 hr drive, I thought it would be worth asking if room was ready, nobody on reception, just a mobile number to call & phone was answered with a “Yeah “ check in is 3pm and if you want to check in now it’s £25 per hr. I thought this was steep after paying £900 for 3 nights. The lodge was ok but worth nowhere near that amount. We went and sat in the pub over the road and waited until 3pm, on check in they asked me to pay £200 security which is for the hot tub. On the 1st night, my 8 yr old daughter was sick and we had to remove her bed sheets, I went to reception the following day a couple of times to report this but there was nobody there, I called the mobile number but no answer & my daughter had to spend 2 x nights without sheets . After we checked out, just a key drop as again there was nobody on reception, I took a call a few hrs later telling me that as I had failed to inform them about my daughter being sick on the sheets, I wouldn’t get my £200 deposit back, I sent a screen shot of times I tried to call & explained that I visited reception to report. I even offered to meet them in the middle but the woman was aggressive & just kept blaming her boss, she wouldn’t send me her bosses details and has kept the money.
Absolutely shocking service & I doubt the boss had anything to do with it.
I have never, ever left a review as I think everyone deserves an off day every now and then, but due to such poor service & poor attitude I need to warn others.
Money not so much an issue, just the manner in which it was taken.

Balmaha is a spectacular location on the banks of Loch Lomond. Beautiful walks along the shoreline or up through the woodlands and climbing Conic hill.
Visitor centre is an interesting visit. Demonstrates the history, geology and wildlife of the area. Staff are always helpful and welcoming.

The Oak Tree Inn had everything you would need for a base...
The Oak Tree Inn had everything you would need for a base for exploring. There was no where near by, within walking distance to eat or drink. The Oak Tree has everything you would need, coffee shop with home roasted coffee, great selection of snacks and cakes with plenty of vegan options. They have a shop with gifts, drinks, sandwiches, snacks and walking equipment. The pub itself it very quaint with open fire, a well stocked bar and good pub food. The pricing of the food was around £15 for a meal however, the deserts were expensive at £8.95. There is great walks around and you can climb Conig Hill which is directly opposite the accommodation. The water taxis weren’t running due to the weather so we drove around to Luss which was beautiful. It’s a great place to stay altogether.

Balmaha was a perfect location for walking, hiking, driving...
Balmaha was a perfect location for walking, hiking, driving and seeing delightful views of the Lochs and sweeping hills - West Highland Way across the road, as well as the beautiful Conic Hill which provided the most wonderful view of Loch Lomand and surrounds.
The town is very small, but has a few lovely restaurants, an excellent coffee shop, and a little store which had everything you needed for your stay.
Definitely recommend hiring a car as there are some lovely villages and walking trails nearby, as well as stunning driving views alongside the Lochs,

A quieter place which gives the opportunity to relax or walk...
A quieter place which gives the opportunity to relax or walk around the local area. Best to avoid the high tourist season as it can become a bottleneck. Limited local eateries, but our accommodation, Birchwood Guest Lodge offers a fabulous self catering full kitchen and dining area.
We arrived to a warm welcome after soaking wet after 4 hours walking through rain on the West Highland Way. We loved the ingenious design of the room with drying rack, fold out beds and tables. The room had everything a tired walker could need including tea, coffee and a hairdryer, and a good wifi connection. It was a short walk into Balmaha village with pub (and dinner), coffee shop, and shop. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. Also great covid precautions. Very good value for money.
Lovely property with everything you could need. Pleasant stay and nothing was too much trouble, hosts happy to answer any questions! Short walk from Drymen and Balmaha. Recommend The Oak Tree Inn where we had a lovely meal. Special shout out to the Property Manager, Michelle, who went out of her way to post something back to us when we left it behind! Again, nothing was too much trouble for her or her husband who came out to fix a couple of the radiators 😊 Would definitely stay again.
The accommodation was great for us, the room was spotless - as someone who has high standards of cleanliness then I wouldn't use this word unless it was true - it really was. The lovely owner had designed and made a lot of the furniture, the attention to detail was very impressive. The location was ideal for us finishing tour first day of the West Highland Way in Balmaha. Lovely seating outside in the garden too. It was just a short walk back in for our dinner at The Oak Inn.
Had a really good experience from beginning to end from the over-exuberant but helpful receptionist to friendly and helpful staff.
Room (44) had a lovely view of loch. Comfortable and had everything I needed.
Had drink out back of hotel which had view down towards loch. Used QT code and drinks came quickly.
Had booked table In restaurant in evening (essential). Food good value and tasty.
Breakfast good value.
Shop attached to hotel.
Charming cottage on the shore of Loch Lomond. Felt very secluded and private, perfect for a quiet getaway. The garden has plenty of seating for you to take in the views.
Couldn’t really have asked for more, it was cosy, comfortable and exactly what we were hoping for. I’d definitely stay again.
Access to the beach was just a short walk from the property, and connected to a woodland/Loch side path to Balmaha.
.Thorsten was a wonderful host. Helpful, informative, great conversationalist and made me feel very welcomed. Put me in the right direction to enjoy a stunningly beautiful slice of heaven; also known as Scotland. The decor was very unique and comfortable.
The BnB is really nice! The view when you exist is really beautiful, the beds are very confortable.
We enjoyed our stay in Balmaha a lot!
The place is about 10-15min walk from the bus station.
The hosts is so so nice! And the breakfast to die for!
Amazing appartement!
Very spacious, clean, comfy, cosy (nicely decorated), peaceful, view on the water, walking distance of pub/WHW/shop (Balmaha is not big), smooth check-in by friendly staff,... we loved it very much and wish could stayed longer.
Location is excellent in Balmaha with Loch Lomond walking distance as well as some exceptional hiking trails. The rooms are very comfortable. The restaurant is very cozy with good service. We enjoyed our time and will recommend the place
