Selkirk had some nice walks.
Selkirk had some nice walks. We did.a forest walk and went around a loch as well.
The town has many interesting houses, so we just walked around the town as it was pleasurable and easy to get around.
The people in town were friendly and helpful.
It was also a good place to stay to just visit other sites nearby.
We ate our suppers at Heatherlie House Hotel where we stayed as they had an extensive menu and the food was delicious and not expensive. A truly memorable stay and visit.

Selkirk is a great place to stay.
Selkirk is a great place to stay. It is great as a base for exploring the Scottish Borders and also as a stopping off point before going further into the Highlands and Islands. It is also very conveniently placed close to major routes between Scotland and England.

During my visit I visited the murals down by the river, and enjoyed riverside walks. I also highly recommend a visit to The Haining (five minutes walk down the hill from The County where I was staying). There are some lovely walks around the lake, and great views of the hills in the distance.
Both Halliwells Museum and Sir Walter Scott’s Courthouse are a must to visit if you like history, and are both just off of Market Square. A wander around the little town gives you the opportunity to explore the various statues, distant views, and some fabulous gothic style architecture.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink, as well as a variety of little shops to browse around.

A lovely small town with interesting statues of Mungo Park and Walter Scott. I didnt get a chance to look at the museum. But Loch Haining is well worth a visit and the 18th century house The Haining is in a spectacular location overlooking the loch and is going to make a spectacular wedding venue when restored. I spent a lovely Friday evening walking round the loch which is five minutes walk from the centre of Selkirk

good facilities and very relaxing. we were visiting family so location for us was perfect. free wifi and tv facilities for entertainment were appreciated. We would certainly stay here again as we have many family to visit in Selkirk. Perfect property to take our small dog with the small garden. On street parking difficult as it is opposite a primary school however delighted to discover on of the playgrounds is open to the public for parking and a 2 minute walk to property
The breakfast was basic, that did contain a cooked vegetarian option. The staff were very friendly. The formerly historic hotel was positioned centrally for all local amenities. The room was comfortable, well furnished and the ensuite bathroom, compact with a walk in shower. There was parking available on site. The hotel offers bed and breakfast only. All rooms are upstairs. There are plenty of places to eat within the town of Selkirk nearby.
We did not realise the hotel was 15 miles from the town of Selkirk, (we were on a hiking trip) but the owner immediately offered to come and pick us up. The restaurant was closed because of her birthday, but she invited us to join the party and offered us a free meal. The only thing we had to do in return was sing karaoke:-) We had a lovely evening with very friendly people!
From Sonny's warm and friendly welcome on arrival until we left everything was exceptional. The whole hotel was spotless. Lovely gardens. Nothing was a trouble for our hosts.
