Beautiful room, decorated with local artwork, and an amazing view of sea and mountains. Exceptional breakfast, ordered the evening before from an imaginative selection. Fabulous location, access to the lovely beach via the garden. Really friendly host, with lots of great tips for our onward travel. We only stayed one night but could happily have stayed much longer.

Travelling with a dog meant we couldn't access the restaurant but we did have our meal served in the guest lounge which was more like private dining. Excellent service and wonderful food.

nice staff and the room was very comfortable. everything you could need for a night. They had an event that night and made sure I knew and did their best to make me comfortable. I heard nothing during the night and had a great sleep.

Altbea is a tiny fishing village on the shore of Loch Ewe where the Arctic Convoys set sail with aid for Russia during WW2. There is a fascinating museum dedicated to the Arctic Convoys which is a must-see. There is also a Wartime Trail which takes you on a journey round the local area and highlights all the significant wartime sites. It is a beautiful area to visit and is steeped in history.

Aultbea is a stunning area.
Aultbea is a stunning area. We were blessed with the weather and the views over the mountains and the lochs amazing.
It could be a place for piece and quiet or use centrally for visiting the local area.
There is a local little shop for supplies.
The hotel was closed for refurbishment but we found a little cafe Oran na Mara up the road just brilliant.

If you're staying near Aultbea, give Conor at Ewe Canoe a call. He offers kayak and canoe tours in the area. He is very knowledgable and flexible. Also, The Barn Restaurant nearby was exceptional.

Andrew was very generous with providing everything needed for a pleasant stay. He is in the process of doing some minor renovations, but these are only surface and didn't in any way detract from the comfort of our stay.

Cartmel was in an excellent location around the corner from the Arctic Convoy Museum which we had travelled to see. The room was clean and comfortable. We were pleased to be able to have an evening meal although there was no option to have a dessert. Meals were taken at the breakfast bar in the room and delivered on a trolley which was super safe although I personally prefer to be in a dining room. We had a cooked breakfast with bread and butter but there were no cereals, juice, fruit or toast. Friendly hosts.
If the weather had been better we would have driven completely around Loch Ewe and aprreciated even more the part it played in WWII

A very quiet village (in the winter) . There is one very nice local shop with a small cafe bar and very friendly staff. the Local hotel has shut down indefinitely apparently. the crafts etc shops all close down for winter. a beautiful spot, with great walking opportunities (if you dont mind the weather).

Aultbea is a really nice village and there are many wonderful places to go around.
The owner, Michele, is an incredibly friendly woman. If you have any trouble, you know you are able to count on her, she is a such amazing woman…
All my family and I are waiting to see her again!
Lovely garden with very active bird population round the feeder. A roe deer came in the garden one morning which was great. The lodge had every convenience provided and most seemed to be of very recent purchase and in excellent condition. Lovely quiet location with views over Loch Ewe and Aultbea.
Beautiful location. Lovely views of the bay. It was very clean and homely. The showers were excellent. The local hotel served beautiful meals and was 1 min from the front door.
Love the amazing view. The hosts are so nice and we had a lovely breakfast conversation.
It is very quiet and up in Aultbea. And the sunsets look amazing.
