Castel Mazars, hotel in Puycelci

Castel Mazars is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Castelnau-de-Montmiral where guests can make the most of its pool with a view, garden, and terrace.

Beautiful property, relaxing stay in the countryside. We arrived late, tired and starving. Nadine and her husband were really welcoming, showed us our rooms and book a restaurant nearby for us. We enjoyed everything, breakfast was fabulous and Nadine is such a nice person to talk too. Even our 2 teenagers made it to breakfast, everything was fresh, homemade and yummy! Rooms were really confortable, spotless and quiet. We loved our stay!

Domaine Les Miquels, hotel in Puycelci

This converted farm house is located at the foot of the fortified village of Castelnau-de-Montmiral.

Peacful Pastoral surroundings looking up at Castelnau-de-Montmiral. Felt like I was staying with family. Reading my book by the pool while knowing many medieval towns and unesco sites were minutes away to explore. Make sure you splurge for the table d'hote; my favorite part of my stay. Can't recommend this ideal place enough.

A stunning, medieval village with a real sense of community.

A stunning, medieval village with a real sense of community. The village shop was well stocked with provisions and we particularly enjoyed the little tubs of delicious organic fruit sorbets they sold, all produced locally. Very refreshing on hot days. Despite its size, there is a choice of dining options, all of which enjoy a good reputation. We loved the dinners at l'Ancienne Auberge, where Greg, the chef, takes enormous pride in the quality and provenance of his ingredients. Here's a man - with the passion and flair for cooking - who consistently turns out delicious and imaginative dishes. We were lucky to attend a free outdoor concert by a group of young and telented operal singers, who performed in the square in front of the church. There are several artists and sculptors in the village and we enjoyed an exhibition by one of their number. This is a place that might appeal to walkers. There are numerous trails in the forest of Gresigne, some of which begin in Puycelsi. During hot weather, they provided ample shade! It's worth noting that guests who stay in the village can get a parking permit to park at a short distance from all the accommodation. Our hosts at l'Ancienne Auberge provided that for us for the duration. Otherwise, traffic is mainly confined to the edge of the village, which makes Puycelsi a peaceful, almost traffic-free place.

The old hilltop town is stunning and well worth the very steep drive and the views are amazing. We had a lovely three course meal at the Jardin de Lys. I would recommend booking as it is not a large restaurant. We had drinks in Roc Cafe, very friendly and typically French. The church is worth a visit and the ceiling is breathtaking. A walk around the ramparts is interesting and easy walking with stunning views. If visiting in high season parking is very limited but a large car park at the bottom of the hill is provided with facilities.

L'Auberge is in the MOST delightful hilltop village - Puycelci. Perfect tranquility, an excellent bistro in the centre, lovely walks and breathtaking views. L'Auberge itself is a beautifully decorated historic building. Our flight was delayed and instead of arriving at 6 pm, we pitched up past 11 pm. The proprietors, Gregg and Sophie, were so very gracious about the bother - stayed up to greet us, provided glasses of wine to enjoy on the terrace, carried our bags. They could not have been more kind. Thank you Gregg and Sophie!

The gite was probably the best equipped we have ever stayed in. Literally everything you might need was provided. The property had been very well modernised while retaining all of its charm. The two bathrooms in particular were great. And of course, Puycelci is just a wonderful village. The two main restaurants restored our faith in French cuisine and the local epicerie had everything you might need for a holiday stay. And finally thanks to Ged for dealing instantly with any queries.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of this lovely village. Room was big with a great little terrace which caught the afternoon sun. No view but that didn't matter. Greg was so lovely and helpful and the evening meal was great, as was breakfast, and very reasonable. The visiting cat was an added bonus.

Location is great, hotel has its charm. Very friendly! We asked for a semi-pension, which also included breakfast and dinner, which were good. Room was large with large windows. I warmly recommend this hotel at any time except during summer heatwave.
