its to far from the flea market, which was the reason for coming here, when you are a buyer, back and forth to the braderie to much. The parking facility awful and misrepresented which marred our whole visit. The morning breakfast of the english cooked items mostly cold, the french items all good. The evening meals very limited menu, but the food was delicious.,

I visited Lille for the Braderie where the old city gets turned into a huge flea and antiques market. This whole area is pedestrianised and the atmosphere was lively but peaceful. At night, it turns into a music festival with a strong techno flavour. It was mainly a young crowd but we also had a good time! (ladies in their 50s!) This is only one weekend a year in September. I would love to return to explore the beautiful streets with their Flemish architecture. It is also a great place to go shopping and only 1.5 hours from London by train. From Lille, you can take the train to Belgium and other parts of France and Europe. I can't believe I hadn't been there before.

Lots to see in this rejuvenated city.
Lots to see in this rejuvenated city. Has an excellent public transport system, which is easy for a foreigner to use and very convenient, as well as being inexpensive. Tourist information centre has lots of readily available maps and guides etc to show where to go. Many restaurants available of all types from which to choose - being close to the Belgium border Moules are a favourite!
Almost an essential destination for the British, with a Eurostar station in the town centre.

A delightful city with lovely, varied architecture and a range of different areas to visit. The area transport links seemed very good and the metro was quirky. There are many place to sit and enjoy the excellent local beers. The piscine art gallery is definitely worth the 14 metro stop ride.
The old stock exchange building is a delight with it's bric a brac market in the centre. Just wander the street and discover charming shops at every turn. Finding suitable food was fairly easy, even for vegetarians. Take ride on an electric motor boat down the canal . An ideal local for a short break.

Lille is off the usual routes of travellers heading into France but worth a detour. The principal sites are within a reasonably short walk of each other. Architecture is fascinating. Look out for the original Gare du Nord station facade transferred from Paris. Transport good. Plenty of restaurants and bars to sample regional foods and beers.

Loved Lille- wonderful atmosphere.
Loved Lille- wonderful atmosphere. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. We came as a family for the Olympics. Used the Eurostar and it was perfect. Lille Europe was central and near all the food places and shops.
Would love to return and explore some more.

A centrally located modern hotel, only 10 minutes from Lille Europe station and within 5 minutes to central squares. Very clean with a great breakfast and snacks/tea/coffee/juices provided throughout the day in a lovely lounge area. A range of drinks are also available to order and are reasonably priced. There is a small fitness centre as well.
The big call out is to the staff who were great and were always available and helpful.
Great location just opposite Gare de Lille Flandres and just a short walk to city centre. We stayed in an apartment which was small and cosy but had everything we needed for one night. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
I liked the view from the hotel room window. I liked that the hotel was near the train station lille flandres and that it was also relatively near to Lille old town.
