Superb, though given the price of breakfast, it would have been nice to have had a bit of smoked salmon. Breakfast was delicious and dinner was superb.

Colleville Montgomery is very small. Whilst there is not much there it is very close to everything. If you want to be able to walk out the door and visit restaurants, cafes and bars then this may not be your cup of tea. However for us it was perfect as we wanted to cook local produce most evenings. The holiday for us was about the days, rather than the evenings, visiting the D-Day landing grounds, Mont St Michael and the Bayeux tapestry, all of which we accomplished with relative ease from this base. The only two long journeys were to Saint Mere Eglise and the Utah beaches and the following day to Mont St Michael (which we did both using the motorway from Caen and took us an hour and a half, less for Utah). The beaches of Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword along with Pegasus/Merville are all very easily accessed on either the beach roads or the faster easier inland one. Pegasus for instance was literally only a few minutes drive from the gite and Ranville cemetery and then Merville battery a few minutes more each. Sword beach just drive across the junction next to Auchan supermarket and you are on it. 3km from gite perhaps? So its quiet but as really easy access to everything we wanted to do so was perfect for us.
