A real-life town in an attractive part of (semi-rural) France, benefitting from a good range of shops, a (small) market, a significant variety of restaurants and cafes (to suit all tastes and budgets), friendly people - just a very nice place to visit.
Hopped on the bus to Senlis, the old walled town, and lunched there. Well worth the visit and the bus ride (but check the timetable and the bus stops carefully.....better, ask!!)
Bearing in mind that our trip was in late-January (when most attractions were partly or fully closed), we still managed to enjoy ourselves thoroughly.

You'd need at least a few days to see everything and to rest and enjoy the area. There are no taxis from the train station, and finding an Uber was not easy, take that into account. Getting around is better by car or bike, walking is quite long. The castle was nice and so was the horse museum. Do not miss the Pavillon de Manse - kids loved it!

We loved the area, very natural with the most amazing chateaux right in the middle. We took a day in Paris, and the train journey was about 25 minutes. (saved all the fuss of driving in and then finding a car park.) Plenty of places tpo eat.
The drive from Calais was stress free all the way.
We will definately go back.

Charming, sophisticated town to explore the chateau and indulge in the posh patisseries. Limited budget food choices in restaurants if you are avoiding meat as more emphasis on beef and pork. Good range of supermarkets if you are self-catering with lovely produce to buy

Superb cafes and restaurants.
Superb cafes and restaurants. The chateau was incredible, huge french art collection stunning views and grounds. Quiet in second week in September.
Easy to walk and drive around the area.
Le Sylvia for a relaxed lunch, excellent food reasonable prices.Superb service
Le Vertugadin for very fine food and gorgeous terrace, garden setting with shady seating areas. Had lunch and dinner here could not fault!
La Belle Epoque for drinks and dinner, sharing boards.Lovely friendly atmosphere, great value.
Lovely little boutique hotel in a fantastic location. Good sized room and bathroom (for France),air conditioning, super comfy bed. Nice view of the village square and only a short walk to shops and cafes- there’s a chocolate shop opposite that does amazing macaroons. All within 20 min walk are the museum of the horse, the Chateau, the train station, racecourse and reservoir. Staff were wonderful and there’s a nice little restaurant downstairs. I didn’t have breakfast but had nice cheese plate in the afternoon which was really good value.
Thoughtful design. Fresh decor. Amazing use of space to provide every thing you need, but not crowded. Kitchen was appreciated, after so many restaurants, we needed a down night -- made homemade vegetable soup and watched TV..
Location very convenient to the chateau grounds. Neighborhood peaceful and private.
Loved the convenience of free parking nearby in a safe environment.
Vincent, our host, was extremely kind, genuine and helpful. The place itself was huge, lovely and homely. Beautiful gardens, tennis court and friendly dogs and cat (snuggliest cat we’ve met). It’s a wonderfully quiet space with all the amenities you could desire. Perfect place to stay to explore the charms of Chantilly.
Very good value for the price. Excellent location, clean room, very comfortable mattress and pillows. The hotel is located in the center of the city, a walkable distance to most attractions, and is surrounded by restaurants (including the hotel's own restaurant), supermarkets, and other conveniences.
We had a very good stay in this apartment. The apartment is located in the centre of Chantilly in an old building and is very charming. The beds are very good. The host is good to reach. There were some minor things that might need fixing in the apartment, but nothing with an impact on our stay.
Location is great and central, close to the train station and to the Chantilly castle
Staff is very friendly and available
The hotel is comfortable with a peaceful charming common space (lobby, garden) and a tasty restaurant (where breakfast is served and for dinner)
Very quiet!
Very nice staff! Charlotte at thee reception made a fast check-in and organised a golf-car to bring us to our room. Very nice. Also it's a beautiful place, lot space for a walk.
They also have a nice bar and the breakfast buffet is amazing.
It's very dog friendly hotel.
Welcoming and friendly hosts, homy atmosphere and very comfortable beds. It was like a visit at the house of our relatives in France. The breakfast was excellent! View to the garden, absolutely quiet place. We were surrounded by nature, but few minutes from the city centre.
Lovely small flat right in the middle of Chantilly. It's absolutely ideal for exploring the town on foot. The host was very helpful and communication was very easy. Nice treats waited for us when we arrived. We'd stay again if we go back to the area.
Very comfortable stay. Everything you need to cook a meal, comfortable bed, great shower, spacious living room, warm home. Location is good: close to train station, close to city center, got elevator, not long walk to castle.
The room was situated in a quiet location of the Hotel, with skylights producing a good level of light. A good selection at breakfast. The staff were very accommodating and helpful in every aspect.
The flat is located in a peaceful area of Chantilly, it is well set up and common area is quite spacious.
Hélène's indications are very detailed which made check in very easy.
An oasis from travel with amazing restarts nearby. The Chateau Chantilly was amazing, if you come here, your must have a desert with the famous Chantilly cream--- OMG!!
