The historic Palais des Papes is one of the most significant medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. Set within a square with the same name, the Papal Palace is an important tourist attraction where you can see the pope’s private chambers and frescoes by Matteo Giovannetti.

Lovely historical place to visit, safe to walk at night, clean & friendly, good map of various walks around city provided by tourist information centre. Quite a walk to Fort Saint Andre on opposite side of Rhone in Villeneuve, but worth the effort.

Avignon once was a beautiful old town, rich in history and lovely to walk around is. These days, however, the city is horribly dilapidated; at least two out of every ten shops is closed forever and their storefronts are covered in graffiti.
Another deception is the fact that it is very hard to find affordable restaurants serving French food, since the centre of town is filled with tourist traps serving pizza's, couscous and similar imported dishes.

Beautiful, historic, walkable city, with numerous plazas, charming narrow streets and great restaurants. Popes palace and surrounding area was spectacular, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Great base location for day trips to other nearby interesting towns like Arles and Orange and others.

Fascinating to see the historic buildings and French people...
Fascinating to see the historic buildings and French people actually live there! I felt like it was a movie decor! It was quiet at night, we slept really well and our room was super quaint (Au Cœur des Papes). Lovely wood shutters to close at night so the sun didn’t wake you. Amazing 4 nights, good food and not too pricey! We visited the famous bridge of course and the palace but we also rented a scooter to go visit the countryside and vineyards in the Château Neuf du Pap région. Unforgettable 💕

Hotel De Cambis was the best find!
Hotel De Cambis was the best find! Day trips along with in town sights and shopping was great. Hip restaurants, don’t settle for main street places. Leave time to relax here. Beou and Bibendum are hip cutting edge places to be, eat and hang out. Easy to get around walking, trains, busses, tourism dept is great. Good place to hang.
The perfect spot for a few days in Avignon - beautiful high ceilings and shuttered windows- I loved the home touches of coffee and salt/oil etc left for cooking - making the kitchen very usable (not always the case!) - having a washing machine was a real luxury too as I'd been travelling for a while - really central location - everything is walkable - comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated and really warm (in November) - I would stay here again in a heartbeat! No I wasn't paid to write this review!!
It was a well kept hotel, our room no. 11 was spacious, modern and with a nice view over the square. The sound proofing, double glazing was great when we had windows closed. We enjoyed having breakfast each day, it was continental with a wide choice on offer, items regularly topped up and my husband really enjoyed the coffee pods. Staff were all polite, friendly and helpful. We previously stayed at the Mercure Pont D Avignon by the bridge but we both preferred the Kyriad due to the above.
The place is very cute and well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, a nice living room... It is 10 min walk from the walls and I did walk everywhere. The area seemed to be very safe. There is a supermarket within 10 minutes walk and the train station Avignon Centre was approx. 20 min walk.
My room was just like a hotel room: beautifully decorated and I had chocolate on my pillow on arrival :)
The host was very easy to reach and seemed very nice. Thank you!
Our room was large and the pool was great. It was worth staying slightly farther out to have so much space compared to the hotels inside Avignon. We really appreciated Michel and Christiane’s recommendations on where to go around Avignon. Michel picked us up from the train station giving us a tour of Avignon and the next day dropped us off at a bike rental place. He really went above and beyond and made our trip even better!
The Hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Avignone, close to the most of historical sites and restaurants.
Breakfast is good, and the space devoted to breakfast is nice and clean.
Our double room was sufficiently large, with two large windows.
Very well the heating in the room and in the bathroom.
Finally the hotel is very close (100mt by foot) to the parking mentioned in the hotel description.
Hotel within the old town area of Avignon with (limited) parking. Very well taken care of location with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has a very pretty patio where you can have breakfast, coffee or hide from the hot afternoon sun. The main touristic sights of Avignon can be reached by foot (about 18 min to the Popes Palace) and there is a vivid bar scene just around the corner.
This hotel is near the train station so the walk wasn't bad, which was appreciated on a warm summer day. My room was truly exceptional: the bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows, the bathroom was huge, as was the shower, and the lift was convenient. The breakfast was good, and the hotel was near good restaurants and most of the sights in Avignon.
The breakfast was amazing! They had yogurt and fruit, pastries, cheese, cured meats, bread and jam. They also had a selection of teas and the best coffee in France. The accommodations were lovely very well decorated and 2 of the sweetest cats. It was also conveniently located between the train station and downtown.
Such a lovely place to stay - the owners were super friendly, the house beautiful and clean, and the breakfast in the garden was the highlight of every day. We felt like we were staying at a friend’s house rather than a hotel, and we couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend our time in Avignon
Lovely small hotel in the old town of Avignon. Although our room was small it was modern and clean with a comfortable bed, good air conditioning and a good shower. Rosalie our host was friendly and helpful. She served an excellent breakfast on the outdoor terrace. We enjoyed our stay.
A magnificent hotel, perfectly placed in Avignon for everyone, especially cyclists. The rooms are spacious and filled with charm and secure storage is provided for you bicycle. Though located opposte a park and in the hub of a dining area, the rooms remain whisper quiet.
Brian is the perfect host of his gorgeous boutique hotel. He ensures your trip is magical from start to finish. The rooms are comfortable and stylish. Dinner was fantastic and breakfast the next morning one of the best we had in France. Would definitely recommend
It was 30 degrees in Avignon the day I arrived so I was very pleased to see that my room had its own Daikin air conditioning unit. The location of this hotel is also great. Not far from the train station and also very close to restaurants and attractions.
The hotel faces a narrow alley,
we could feel atmosphere and history of the heart of Avignon.
The owners of the hotel are very friendly, rooms are very clean.
We had a delicious breakfast in a glass pavilion in the garden while relaxing.
Lovely owner who accommodated us very well. Lovely rooms, quaint decoration, thick curtains that kept the light out well. We stayed for two additional nights as we loved the hotel and Avignon.
A lovely boutique hotel in the heart of historic Avignon. Tastefully decorated throughout with a great atmosphere. Afternoon teas in the lounge and the two restaurants were exceptionally good.
A great little hotel with friendly staff and in a convenient location. Easy access from Avignon train station, and a short, pleasant walk into the centre of town. Really good value for money.
the hotel is right next to the center of Avignon. the room was exactly as advertised, and the staff are super friendly and helpful! not sure what else I could ask for.
Large modern hotel, with car parking underneath. Just outside the walls of Avignon, so handy for visiting the centre. Located next to the station as well.
