Amboise is absolutely charming!
Amboise is absolutely charming! Chateau Amboise is one of my favorites and Clos Luce is a must as Leonardo da Vinci's last home. I was there in February for only 2 nights, so unfortunately, the Garage de l'Art was closed. However, I did meet Fernand Martin-Dumagny, the owner and artist, across the street at the brewery. Everyone was very kind and hospitable; I really wish I had more time to enjoy this lovely town!

If you want to be surrounded by Americans when you are in a foreign country then Amboise is the place for you. On the positive side, my traveling companion became ill while we were in Amboise, and I felt perfectly comfortable going out in the evening by myself. In a larger city, that might not have been th case. Similarly, it was easy to get in and out of Amboise to see many other sites in the Loire Valley

If you are considering a trip to the Loire Valley, we recommend Amboise as the hub. Why? It's a charming village right on the Loire River with it's own chateau right in the town. Much smaller than Tours, close to the rail line, affordable and attractive hotels and B&Bs, and close to premier chateaux such as Chenonceau and Chambord. Lots of restaurants and cute shops.

A friendly small town right on the Loire river with lots of good restaurants cafes and bars. Great places to visit within Amboise and close by such as Clos Luce with its wonderful Da Vinci gardens and exhibition, Chateau Chenonceau and the Pagoda de Chanteloup.
And of course there’s all that delicious wine and food of the Loire 👍

So much to see and not enough time to see it all!
So much to see and not enough time to see it all! Lots of restaurants, cafes, and a wonderful shopping area. The castle, museums and Leonardo da Vinci house etc is very interesting. Being by the river, the views are lovely too. It is very easy to get around on foot. Some streets are cobbled so might not be too suitable for wheelchairs.
The breakfast was lovely and the fresh pastries and homemade jam were wonderful. The accommodations were perfect for our family of three. Access to the little kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator worked well for us. Parking on-site was great as this place is not quite walking distance to town. Our host (Annick) was wonderful as well as the furry friends! Annick's recommendations were perfect - she even helped us make dinner reservations for a place that was the favorite of our time in France.
Everything about this place was amazing!!! The rooms were very rustic and comfy. The location is great for exploring Amboise or even a good home base for discovering the Chateaus of the region. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant one night and it was the best meal we had in Amboise. After our meal, they served us Calvados in another room in front of a fireplace, very charming and romantic. They also have a great selection of local wines that you can purchase. The breakfast was also on point.
The host was quite friendly and attentive . Even though we arrived late after the check in time , she still went the extra mile to come and check us in . The place has a nice garden and a swimming pool area where you can relax . The location is perfect , few minutes walk to the Chateau d‘Amboise and Château du Clos Lucé . Also close to restaurants and bars . Very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely recommend staying here while visiting the Loire Valley!
WOW! What a super place to stay in Amboise. Its the best accommodation we have ever stayed in in France on our yearly road trips. The house is beautifully designed with great facilities. Lovely and warm on our arrival and spotlessly clean. Very comfy bed and great shower. Owners very attentive answering questions very quickly and easy to check in. Amboise is a lovely town to explore with many restaurants and cafes and shops. We will be back again!
Le 31 is a great place to stay. It’s very clean, comfortable and inviting. Beautifully decorated with the hosts taking care with every little thing. Allison serves an amazing breakfast. She does everything imaginable to make your stay in her home nice. The location is excellent. A quick walk to restaurants, the river and Chateau Amboise. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le 31 and the beautiful city of Amboise.

This the perfect place to chill, relax, and explore the surrounding beauty. My family and I are dreaming of returning to France simply to come back to this hotel. 10/10 experience!
Beautiful surroundings. In the heart of Amboise with everything walking distance( river, chateau, shops, restaurants, mini supermarket close). Spacious appartment on 2 floors. Stylish decor. Washing machine. Good kitchen equipment and the microwave is multi-function so oven setting so I actually was able to bake something in the oven.
Excellent location in the wonderful town of Amboise. We were always able to find free parking a short distance away. Nice kitchenette with everything needed for a nice, comfotable stay. Hostess was very helpful in suggesting activities and wineries to visit in the area. Enjoyed excellent restaurants a short walk from the apartment.

Just outside Amboise centre so lovely and quiet but only a short stroll to the shops and restaurants. Beautiful views along The Loire. We will definitely return.
