Albert is a very small town with limited lodging. The hotel has a very good restaurant with it. On Sunday evening it was the only place open we could find. Free parking was a plus.

Le Relax was spotlessly clean, well-stocked with everything I needed for my stay (coffee machine, good shower, towels and tv, plus all the necessary cooking utensils and hob) and conveniently located just behind the town hall. A lovely apartment and excellent value for money!

We have been visiting Albert for over 20 years and in that time it has changed with new restaurants replacing the traditional Tabacs. However this isn’t necessarily great for travellers as they aren’t open all the time. We visited on a Sunday in July and absolutely no restaurants or bars were open at 2pm in the afternoon. Corners is the only place that was open from 6pm and needless to say it was packed. I would suggest Arras as a better stop over in the Somme region

We arrived on a Sunday, which meant a lot of shops and eating places were closed. The hotel was clean and comfortable and in a quiet area. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was generous and fresh with a variety of choices. Everything in the town was within walking distance from the station. The church is worth a visit. The le Corner's pub, which was open on Sunday, served good meals and the wine list was also good. The information centre had some english speaking staff which helped immensely when we required a taxi for a side trip. English is not common in albert however the locals are patient and communication was made easier with the translator app. Our trip was impacted by the Paris strikes, and our train back to Paris was delayed until the afternoon. However the tickets remained valid. and abus was provided to ferry passengers from Albert to Amiens to make the connection with the train.

There are bars, restaurants and shops to browse but remember they will be closed on Sundays
The museum is well worth a visit, allow up to 2 hours if can, followed by a walk in the park.
Nearby are many Commonwealth Grave sites to visit, you will find many small ones dotted along the roads and some a little off the road but they are worth a quiet walk round. Please take a pen and sign the visitors books.
Driving is easier if you remember that the driver is “in the gutter” !
Watch your speed as they have lower limits on all roads (except the toll roads)
We used the channel tunnel which was easy and in France you can get straight on from the motorway as it very well signposted
We only have a smattering of French and got by ok but a small phrase book is always handy!

I have been to Albert for 23 years now, before the Ibis opened we stayed at the Hotel de la Paix for many years. One of the things we always enjoyed was a walk through the town in the mornings before breakfast, and a wander around in the evening. A lovely little town abounding in history.

The town is great to walk around but if you visit in August it is quiet due to French holidays. Somme museum is very moving and thought provoking and all related WW1 sites nearby are worth going to see. The French cemetery on the edge of Albert does not seem that large till you realise 6,290 bodies are buried there. People are friendly and enough supermarkets if you are self catering. Would recommend anybody to visit Albert.

Superb centre for visiting Battle of the Somme sites and cemeteries. The Somme Museum in Albert is excellent. The Lochnagar Crater is a must visit monument - but take a tissue! The Thiepval Memorial is also close by. The only negative was the lack of restaurants in Albert. Fortunately the Ibis Albert serves good food.
Great location - not far from the town centre and easy to get out and about on the roads so especially useful for visiting the Somme monuments, battlefields etc. Jose was very friendly and helpful - from a welcome pate and beer to a much needed fan when the weather was hot. The outside seating was ideal for an early evening drink. The apartment had just about everything you could need. Communications were easy and quick by email and txt

The location in the centre of Albert was perfect, so close to lots of WW1 sights. The house itself was great, beautifully decorated and the beds were so comfortable! It was perfect for the 7 of us. Outside space to sit in was great, a sunny spot. Anne was very friendly and welcoming.
The location was absolutely perfect - directly across the road from the basilica (site of the original basilica of the leaning Virgin of Albert revered by WW1 soldiers). The hotel was spotlessly clean and managed by an exceptionally friendly and helpful family.
Excellent, value for money. Disappointing as no shop for milk. Albert is a beautiful town but with limited facilities.
Entertainment on Saturday night with animals & karaoke.
The coco which we stayed in was very clean. The staff were extremely helpful.
Nice little family hotel. Perfect location opposite the Basilica and very interesting museum of the Somme. Nice friendly staff. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant. A nice area outside the hotel with a few bars and fountain overlooking the Basilica.
The property was clean, comfortable and exactly what we were looking for and Jose was an excellent host. Thank you Jose if we go back to Albert we will be requesting to stay again. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
This gite is a perfect base for someone wishing to visit the Somme battlefields. The location made it easy to get out to the battlefields while avoiding downtown traffic. The parking and washing machine were most appreciated.
This hotel is ideally located for WW1 tours, being that it is close to multiple sites. Also close to the village of Albert, which has a lot to see. Staff were very friendly, with excellent English language skills.
We arrived early but were allowed to check-in and access our room. The hotel is right at the heart of the town and has a nice vibe. We enjoyed a very pleasant dinner outside the hotel in the evening.
It was clean the bedding and towels but the room could do with a bit of decoration and the bathroom needs updating could only just get in the shower door no one in the hotel could speak English

Great location in Albert and the surrounding Somme region. If you’re going out to explore the cemeteries and museums dedicated to the First World War, this is the place to stay.
Modern, clean, well-equipped, very friendly, helpful and professional staff. Good restaurant and breakfast. Easy parking. We liked the rabbits in and around the hotel grounds .
Communication with the host were excellent. Great location near to centre of Albert. Room was very clean and modern. Excellent for using as a base to explore the battlefields.
great location for visiting the Somme. Cecile the front desk clerk was the BEST!! She made our stay even better with her kindness and sweet personality!!!!
