Sorvagur is a great base if you fly into the Faroe Islands. Guesthouse Hugo is perfectly situated just close to the harbour and the boat that sails from there to Mykines Island (to see puffins :-) - don't forget to book in advance the online ferry there and back and a separate guided tour of Mykines Island - without this, a visit to the island is not possible). A very nice owner who was happy to answer all our initial confused questions. Parking is not available directly in front of Guesthouse Hugo, but just a short walk further into the harbour round the corner.

We stayed in Midvagur for our trip to the Faroe Islands - and was very happy about this. Midvagur is very close to the airport and several highlights (Gasadalur, The Nix, Trælanípan, Lake Leitisvatn and so on).
Don't expect to find restaurants and cafes on very corner. The town is very small. We only a saw little pizzeria on our stay. Instead Midvagur has two foddstores (FK and Bonus). If you stay in Midvagur we will recommend that you cook your own food.
