Breakfast was great, a plate with ham, cheese, bread, boiled egg, veggies, fruit, something sweet to finish it off. In addition, coffee, tea, yoghurt, porridge was offered with a friendly smile. The area and the boutique hotel was a 1850's iron works transferred to a beautiful combination where accommodations were modern but surrounding's from 1850's.

The location was really nice and peaceful with a great view. The kitchen was perfect and had everything you needed in terms of equipment to make some very pleasant meals. The area was incredibly peaceful and I got some amazing sleep in while there. The host is also superb and made sure that everything was going to be fine for me so it was really nice.

Mathildedal is a lovely village - one of its kind and one we enjoy visiting. There are numerous places to eat, or stay, yet the atmosphere is peaceful and quiet. There is a large boat tourists can ride in to the islands, there is a waterwheel, museum, old homes which have been updated beautifully, delightful little boutiques and store where alpaca wools are gathered and used to make wonderful warm clothes. There is even an outdoor theatre there. The foods and clothes sold there are mostly cultivated in the area. We ate in one of the restaurants and the food was served graciously and nicely. We enjoyed taking quiet walks in the gardens and trails.

A gorgeous little village full of incredible old industrial buildings repurposed for artisan workshops, cafe, hotel, pub and restaurant. The marina is really lovely and the marina bar/restaurant on the water is very welcoming with super friendly staff and good food and drinks. The village is surrounded by old woods, a national park and lakes. It's perfect for hiking, mushroom picking and picnicking.
There's a mill selling exquisite (but very pricey) knitted clothes and accessories made from the local alpacas, and a workshop next door with looms where beautiful rugs and fabrics are woven by a brilliant craftswoman. They are both an inspiration for anyone interested in artisanal production.
We had a lovely meal at Ruukin Krouvi, the restaurant in the workshop area. Great food and again super friendly and informative staff. Petri's chocolate was sublime... We missed the pub restaurant Terho, sadly, because in September some places are not open all week. So we will certainly go back to experience their brewery and food at another time.
One tip, then, is to check what's open and when.
Such a beautiful village!

The Marina was great. The Alpacas are so cute!
The Marina was great. The Alpacas are so cute! I wish to get there again soon. I didn't have enough time to visit all the interesting shops and restaurants.
There is also so many paths and routes to hike in Mathildedal even if you sit on the wheelchair.
