Staff on check in were very helpful, speaking English as well as Spanish, of course. The food was better than we expected, and the lady in the restaurant was clearly overworked, but she maintained a cheerful attitude which we appreciated very much.
The room was huge - much bigger than we expected for the price we paid. And clean, which was important. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This would be a great place to stay if you had business to do in Valdepenas or, like us, you wanted a place to break your journey on your way to Andalucia. The kitchen was very well equipped so we ate in our apartment as the weather was extremely wet. The town is centred around wine production and it would be a great place for wine lovers.

Valdepeñas is a small city known for its wine making.
Valdepeñas is a small city known for its wine making. The hills are surrounded by grape vines and olive trees. There are several bodegas where you can take part in wine tasting. The plaza is beautiful and perfect for sitting at a cafe and people watching.

VDP is a working class spainish town mainly full of youmg families who I assume work on the vineyards etc. So don't come expecting designer shops like in Madrid because you will not find them.
What yiu will find is Avery spainish atmosphere with low cost shops and bars which offer good value for money and a true local experience. We were not disappointed but don't come with your tourist hat on, enjoy it for what it is and you won't be disappointed. You get a tapa with every dribk and the drinks are not expensive. Try rest san antonio for great food and interesting local menu.

The bed was super comfy, the room was spacious.
The bed was super comfy, the room was spacious. We were just there for a night on our way from Bilbao to Malaga. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. The spa was good, we didn't try the gym. Steam room, jacuzzi and sauna not as hot as expected but comfortable.
Everything was lovely and clean but in need of just a little TLC! The staff, especially Cristina in reception, were very helpful, patient and friendly.
Lots of olive oil and wine!

Only stopping for one night on the way to Santander.
Only stopping for one night on the way to Santander. Saw a couple of museums in the town on the night, both excellent - the Municipal and the Wine museums.
Not a big town, can get to know it relatively quickly. The square (plaza) was pleasant and the staff at the bar we ate at were friendly.
If travelling that route again we would probably look to book a wine tour to discover more about the region however the wine museum was very informative.
Overall we were happy to choose Valdepenas as an overnight stop on our way North.
Excellent breakfast, superb location with restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity; also there was a public car park, extra cost, some 200 yards from hotel entrance.
