This restored 19th century farmhouse is set 50 metres from Solarana Town Hall. Surrounded by peaceful countryside, it offers a pretty garden, sun terrace and breakfast, 40 minutes’ drive from Burgos.

The property forms part of the town wall so our room had a view out over the adjacent countryside. It was beautifully decorated and furnished.
The staff were friendly and served us a beautiful traditional Spanish breakfast.
This comfortable and pleasant hotel is set by the banks of the River Arlanza, 1 km from the centre of Lerma. It offers a traditional restaurant and comfortable, heated rooms with free Wi-Fi.

Location is the main thing for me. I’m driving through Spain to reach one of the ferry ports. This hotel is on the edge of town and you can literally see the A1 from it, it that close. However you don’t get any no8se and I always get a good nights sleep. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. There is a restaurant on site and the evening meals are very good. It’s great to have a casual drink in the bar after a long days driving. Get up to a nice breakfast and your about 2 hours from Santander and 11/2 hours from Bilbao. If you want it’s just a short walk into the lovely town of Lerma and that’s worth a visit.
Parador de Lerma is a striking 17th-century palace converted into a unique hotel. It has a popular restaurant with a wide range of traditional regional dishes with modern touches.

Excellent breakfast. Atmospheric lounge to relax. Location is a small village which is lovely but not a lot to do. We therefore went to Burgos - 25 mins away- which was a lovely city to visit.
Santo Domingo de Silos is set in a cobbled street opposite the Santo Domingo de Silos Monastery. It offers a bar-café and restaurant, 24-hour reception and air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi.

Breakfast was excellent.
The lost property service was able to recover my enormous hat which was surprisingly difficult. I couldn’t understand why it was a problem.
