We splurged for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The hotel is so beautiful and fascinating. We enjoyed having down time just to walk the halls and explore. The breakfast buffet was amazing, even for someone with food allergies. The room was spacious and the bathrooms were luxurious. We loved the location and were able to have the rental car parked at the hotel while we walked everywhere.

Gorgeous old town with lots of lovely restaurants.
Gorgeous old town with lots of lovely restaurants.
Final town on the El Camino hike and well worth it!
Very hilly and lots of cobble stones/steps so might not be appropriate for less able bodied people.

I absolutely loved this area.
I absolutely loved this area. Santiago de Compostela has everything you could ask for-culture, great food and friendly people. It was picturesque and clean. In addition it was a great base from which to easily visit other areas. It is a city I could return to again and again. We were here during off season so not sure if high season would be as pleasant.

The room was great, and the bath a very welcome piece of luxury after the Camino. Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to assist.
The main weakness was the breakfast, which I would call “ just ok”, and I had expected more.
The hotel was a little further than i thought from the cathedral and the main restaurant strip, but still an easy walk.

Lovely city.
Lovely city. Impressive main square and very impressive cathedral; fairly compact. Old town great: loads of eateries - specially down Franco St but many elsewhere. Finding tourist information office needs a little determination but very helpful when you succeed. Many good tours reasonably priced -especially Ria Basis and also Finisterre tour. You can easily get to La Coruña by train on your own but turn up a bit early because there may be a few security checks. Not an expensive place for a major tourist destination.

Santiago de Compostela is a nice place to visit but way more crowded than I anticipated. Suggest pre booking tickets to things you want to see. The cathedral and museum was wonderful. Also, suggest reviewing restaurant options and make reservations early for popular places. And pre-arrange a taxi two days prior to airport departure. If arriving by bus also pre-arrange a taxi.

The place was within a 9-10 minute walk to the Cathedral, but don't rely on Apple Maps for directions, it might take longer. The air conditioning was user-controlled - which is a gift in Spain. The manager/owner was really helpful with other things too, like telling us when stores were open and arranging taxis. We had a problem with the AC leaking (didn’t affect us directly but I didn’t want the apartment to suffer damage); the manager/owner fixed it quickly. Really impressive! Would consider staying here again.
The location is fantastic: in the old part of town, within a short walking distance from the Central Market and the Cathedral. The room was spacious and with a exquisitely restored decorative stone kitchen. The sound-proofing was excellent, particularly considering that the street where the hotel is located has quite an active nightlife. The breakfast was excellent and well priced. One of the best (if not the best) value-for-money hotels in the old part of Santiago.
A lovely boutique hotel very well situated within the city. Friendly , helpful , unpatronising staff who spoke good English . Loved the little touch’s of fresh flowers and the rose in our room smelt divine. Having just completed part of the Camino with my grown up children ,it was a relief to have a nice hotel to complete our stay in Spain. Very nice breakfast on Saturday morning.
This is a very clean, modern facility still in the old part of Santiago, just across from one of my favorite little squares: Plaza San Roque. The airport bus has a stop only a minute walk from the hotel, and many good restaurants, bars and bakeries that are frequented by locals are a hop, skip and a jump away. The room was very clean and nicely layed-out.
The location is perfect, in city center, close to old town and shopping area.
The room was so comfortable, so neat and clean, felt like home.
The owner, Jose was so friendly and helpful, like friend you've known before.
They serve tea, coffee, fruit and candy.
Just 1 night, but definitely will choose this if there's a chance to Santiago again.
Great choice. Close to the old town. Rooms very clean, comfortable. Staff very polite and helpful. Close to bars with breakfast. Possibility to buy breakfast at the hotel. Bathroom not very new, but very clean and comfortable. The beds are large and comfortable. If I ever come back to Santiago I will definitely consider this hotel.
this was my best hotel on my trip! very hospitable hostess and wonderful atmosphere as if you were at home. They even prepared mulled wine for me, although they don't make it in Spain, and it was so good! :) The fire in the stove is cozy. I will return if possible. Above all praise. I highly recommend it!
As a solo female I appreciated the safety of the pension. I liked that the doors were locked at 5:00 pm except to residents. Concierge was very helpful and place was super clean. I’d read reviews that the showers were small. That’s so not true; I’ve seen hotels in Spain with really small showers!
Lovely sweet receptionists.
Location between the train station and old town and very near to airport bus stop.
Quiet clean comfortable room. We stayed in two other different hotels in Santiago de Compostela, this is our best experience .
Can leave luggage after check out.
After a stay in the old town of Santiago we chose to stay in this hotel to do some shopping, Corte Ingles a 5 min walk and a bus ride to the shopping centre.
Wonderful staff and a very clean hotel with in site parking, just perfect for our stay.
there is so much to like about this place. the staff, the location, the accommodations. could not say enough of the excellence it exudes. While I am not as much a fan of Spain as Portugal, this was by far the very Best stay of the entire 21 days.
This hotel was perfectly situated in the old town of Santiago de Compostella.
It is wonderful to be able to have breakfast downstairs and their food and cafe which is brilliant.
I can recommend the guiness cake which was fantastic.
Very well located, close to Santiago de Compostela city center and old town. The young girl at check-in gave us a really nice introduction to the city and the most interesting touristic points.
When you visit Santiago de Campostela, you must stay at Hotel Gelmirez. The location, the staff, the facilities, all are way more than expected in every way.
