Excellent location, the entrance is right on El Camino de Santiago de Compostela. The back is on the river, and make it an excellent place to relax after walking all day. Beautiful to sleep with the sound of the river. It was magical.

I was greeted by Maria who seemed to intuitively know that I’d had a long hot day on the Camino. When I saw my beautiful room I could have cried it was so welcoming and lovely. María gave me a big hug and I knew I’d come to the right place.
The location is next to a burbling river and a small green space with benches and a spot where you can put your feet in the cool water. Across the small bridge is a pharmacy, little supermarket and one of the best restaurants I have been to in the world — literally. A European chef who brings local produce, berries, cheeses and wines to his offerings. Fresh, beautifully balanced dishes served with love! Restaurante Arrosaria Español. My whole experience in Vega de Valcarce was incredibly memorable thanks to my stay at Pension Fernandez.

Owner also makes food which you then bring back to your bungalow. We had pizza , salad and patatas bravas, all good. And he has beer on tap.
