Stunning views. Lovely owners and their husky dogs. 1400 m of altitude means you are next to some of Spains nicest mountains. The meal they offered was gorgeous. Great night's sleep (super comfortable bed), me and my boyfriend slept like logs.
The living room/communal area was lovely, a nice fire to read your book next to.

Pola de Somiedo is in the middle of everything. It´s a quite busy village and parking there might be a bit difficult. It has small petrol station and if you came without any food, you can do your shopping there. You can start few hikes from here or you pass through to go to one. It has many restaurants and other facilities.

This hotel was clean and comfortable. It was dead quiet, but it was not high season and we were there mid-week. The restaurant was very good, though the menu was limited and very beefy. The breakfast buffet was adequate. Free parking was a bonus. The location was great for us because we wanted to hike in the mountains and go wildlife spotting.
The owner gave us excellent information about what to see and do nearby and even lent us her binoculars so we could see local wildlife. We saw 4 wild bears very near the hotel on the evening we arrived as she called a local guide to find out the best place to observe them.
Lovely small hotel in Pola de Someido. Very convenient for accessing Valle del Lago.
