Our stay was more by accident than design, but we so wish we could have stayed another night. The owner is working to bring this forgotten village back to its original medieval integrity and is doing it so lovingly, with such warmth and charm. He is a warm and delightful young man, come back to his roots after traveling the world to raise his girls. He knows the entire history of the region, it’s fascinating, and all the great hiking trails near by. In fact his place sits is on of the two original Camino trails. The photos show one short, magical hike just outside his front door. Apparently there are many others. It’s off the beaten path but just an hour from Santiago and an hour or so from Porto. If you are traveling northern or central Portugal make it special, stay here!
