Reception is via the front door from the square; not any of the doors on the (back) road. It was a bit haphazard as they were setting up for a 12th birthday. Pleasant reception and I was handed my key and shown to my room.
Downstairs is a small busy bar and a large restaurant. The bar is used by the villagers.
Bedroom is big with a window at floor level with a grill. Curtains and blackout curtains. Big double bed that appears to be two singles push together, but, with a big double mattress. Memory foam. It was comfortable. Clean white linen and good pillows. Wardrobe, chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets with lights over. Tele. Get straight into bed clean.
Shower room is big with a shower cabinet, bidet, toilet and sink. Satchets of shower gel. White towels on the bed in the shape of Swans. Clean and shiny. Quiet.
Outside the front is the church square and children’s playground. The children use the square to play football, tennis, kiss-chase etc. can be noisy until bedtime. A covered terrace for adults.
District is friendly and quiet. The church opposite looks lovely in the evening sun. Some nice buildings.
The hosts are friendly and happy to help. Local bottled beers by EIPA was a bonus. The food in the restaurant was basic, but, good. It’s a busy, but, friendly place.

Fair stay in the middle of nowhere... well, for motorbike riders, Olocau del Rey is at the center of a wonderful network of roads which seem specially designed for bikers. There are beautiful small villages nearby, some of them that are on the list of "Most beautiful villages of Spain"

We were very warmly welcomed, given the keys and shown around. The place is really nice, furnished and equipped with the local traditional style. The house has everything one can need for a nice stay in the area. The beds are very comfortable and the whole apartment very cleaned. We did laundry and could dry it easily in the terrace upstairs.
My kids loved the jacuzzi :) We also appreciated very much that they had 2 golf cubs and balls to go play in the minigolf in town. They also had paddle rackets to borrow.
We really liked the restaurant in town (El Guerrer), bear in mind that this is about the only place you can get a warm meal in town. Also the shop has limited opening times - so you may want to buy food and drinks on the way (many towns around have shops and bakeries, i.e. El Forcall, Morella...).
Also, bear in mind the streets in town are really narrow and steep :)

everything. the friendliest of staff, the breakfast was amazing, and the beautiful town was so peaceful.

Olocau del Rey is a beautiful village, in a region (El Maestrat) full of them. Bit was essential is that in these region lay some of the best motorbike riding roads of Spain. Be careful though, winter is cold there, and spots black ice may be lurking in the shadows. But yes, Olocau, Cantavieja, Mirambel are wonderful places which seem forgot by time
Great little hotel with a nice restaurant. We visited because of the mountainbiking even I was participating in and it couldn't have been better. We arrived late around 9PM and I was very worried that all restaurants in the area would be closed but the one by the hotel was open and we have a meal there.
