The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.
There's also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.
A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.
From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Two hillside castles were very inexpensive and provided excellent view points. Plenty of museums and galleries. September a good month to visit - plenty of sunshine and not too hot.

Huge city but we kept mostly to the old part and loved it.
Huge city but we kept mostly to the old part and loved it. Much history to explore plus if we had longer, we would have travelled to Nerja or other beach areas (too busy for us in Malaga itself) and the castle, quayside, restaurants, bars etc everywhere were lively and fun with good food selections. Much to see and do!

This city is fantastic.
This city is fantastic. The locals are incredibly friendly, and it has everything: the sea, sand, sun, historic buildings, art, museums, vibrant street life, Spanish cuisine, towering palm trees, and stunning natural scenery. The city center is just half an hour from the airport, and the bus station is a 15-20 minute walk from the heart of the city. Buses accept cash or card, so there’s no need to stress about bus tickets. Taxis are affordable, and you can easily walk everywhere within the center. Despite being bustling, the city maintains a peaceful atmosphere—truly a 10/10 destination for tourists.

Málaga is a beautiful city with delicious food, warm and pleasant weather, and stunning views. Most of the locals are friendly and welcoming. However, I encountered staff with a poor attitude in at least three restaurants, which was disappointing.
Just a short walk away from the old town of Malaga and the beach. Despite this hotel being modern with little character, it had all the facilities you needed or wanted. The rooftop pool and sun loungers were a bonus. The breakfast was excellent and the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
