After spending the day walking 40km on the Camino Norde. It was a joy to find my bed was made with a fresh cotton sheet. I didn't have to make it with a disposal paper one. Also, I was given a clean towel. The place was spotless, and it was well worth paying the few extra euros for the great breakfast in the bar just across the road. I definitely recommend this Alberge to others.

As you walk in off the Camino into the Cathedral Square you are met by the wonderful sight of the Cathedral and a square full of restaurants and bars. A welcome sight after a good walk although when we arrived only one or two places were open to serve drinks and basic snacks/food. The hotel was only just a minute's walk off the square so very convenient. The rooms we were given were spacious, comfortable, clean and both had balconies. From mine at the front of the hotel you could see the square and Cathedral. There is a kitchenette downstairs forming part of the reception area where you can prepare some basic food and drinks and there are some tables.

The albergue is very spacious and provides travelers with privacy. The albergo has a large kitchen with all utensils for preparing meals. A comfortable rest in the two living rooms or in the spacious garden is also guaranteed. My personal favorite was the swing.

It is on the Camino so is very conveniently located. Although check in is at 4pm if you arrive earlier you can sit in their wonderful cafe which serves soft/alcoholic/hot drinks, bocadillos and snacks. An ice cold beer after a long walk is most welcome! The cafe does close at 4-4.30pm. If the rooms are ready they will check you in early. The rooms are clean and spacious. One of our rooms was large enough to hold twin beds and a sofa. The beds were comfortable and the room itself had electric wall heaters. The shared bathroom was clean and had shampoo and shower gel available. For 15 euros you could have a welcome home cooked 3 course communal meal with wine and water. We would suggest you do this as there are no other restaurant/cafe/supermarket facilities around and it was wonderful to have a meal without having to leave the premises and to chat to fellow walkers. Everyone had the same meal, we had lovely bread with cheese, salami and olive snacks, a very hearty homemade soup, followed by tortilla and salad and finished with a fruit compote yoghurt dessert. If you have any specific dietary requirements then please tell them in advance once your booking is confirmed. My walking partner had intolerances and allergies and our hosts were very good in trying to cater for her needs. There is a continental breakfast laid out in the kitchen for you to help yourself, and there was plenty of everything - pastries, bread, cereal, fruit juice, fruit and hot drinks and for my friend they had brought in gluten free bread and pastries which was wonderful and most welcome. The hosts were very welcoming and having done the Camino herself she knew what we were going through!! Altogether a great place to stay.
