Excellent overnight stay ahead of catching the ferry. Room was comfortable and the complementary tray of fruit and local baked goods was lovely. Daniel was really welcoming and the glass of fizz as we checked in was a lovely touch. Parking is worth reserving as there are only four spaces. It's about 5 minutes walk to the seafront and onwards to the bars and restaurants. We'd certainly stay again.

Location was good however it is not beachfront as advertised
Galizano is a village really. You could walk from the hotel to the beach if fit but there is free parking very near the beach. The beach is usually quiet in the morning. There is a small supermarket open for limited hours in the village. Excellent bakery in the village near the Hotel Vijanera.
The beach is very nice - the parking really helps and it is quite accessible as there is a paved path down to the beach and it is not very steep. There are toilets at the beach and there was a beach bar which was really lovely but I guess only open in the busiest periods and certainly not when the weather isn't so good. We really recommend the burgers and cocktails at the beach bar.
My photo could really confuse people! When the tide is right out this is what it looks like but it can also come right into the bay. There are lifeguards on the beach from 11am to 7pm in summer.

Ideal location just outside Santander easy to catch ferry...
Ideal location just outside Santander easy to catch ferry into city.
Supermarkets were adequate, the two restaurants we tried to get into one refused because there were ten of us, the second catered for us brilliantly
The hotel is very nice and elegant, the rooms are spacious and cosy. Very good location - there are several nice beach within walking distance (10-20 minutes walk). The hotel has a very good restaurant with a tasty and affordable lunch menu (two dishes and wine/coffee for 14,50 euros - but make sure you make a reservation, because it is always full!)
We enjoyed the rural environment, quiet and fresh air. The room was large, with a nice sitting area and large bathroom with bath, shower and bidet. The gardens surrounding were lush, tranquil and with some seating. The breakfasts were self-choose from an extensive menu. The beach de Galizano was family friendly, easy to reach and good parking.
Everything was perfect, very nice staff, great views, beautifully decorated rural hotel, breakfast was prepared and served very well, the location is just perfect to visit Cantabria. Very quiet place.
