Magnificent place!
Magnificent place! Lots of little bars and restaurants in the village with a few other places nearby…fantastic walking , incredible location and views…..a fantastic place to spend 2 or 3 nights if you are en route to the sunny spots of Spain!…. Large outdoor pool in the village as well.
The journey there from Pau on the French side of the Pyrenees is breath taking…a must do…. Not for a faint hearted driver though!….several very narrow parts with rock over hanging the road one side and huge drops on the other!…soon pans out into wide easy driving though with lots of parking places and views that will not be forgotten!
We arrived early afternoon in mid summer and had the whole spa with relaxing music & pool area for ourselves for hours. The pool area is dream come true, fantastic mountain views. Perfect terrace for an evening drink, rain or shine. We just came to escape the summer tourist rush of the coast and this mountain hotel was the best pick for us to relax. But if you come for a hike and want to be active, it's perfect too. Guided tours and all info included maps if you go on your own. Just perfect. Coming back for sure.
Location is second to none. Above the town, below Peña Foratata peak. Amazing views. Great family atmosphere and village vibe. Easy walking distance to middle of town.
Breakfast was great. My wife and I joke about a hotel review we once saw that said the croissants were not crunchy, so we laughed when we discovered at breakfast at HG Alto Aragón that the croissants were crunchy! No machine coffee, but great spread of hot and cold breakfast, pastries and fruit.
The area is beautiful. The lovely village Sallent is 4.5 kilometer away. Within walking distance you only have the (winter sports) hotels and some tourist terraces/ pizzerias etc. Hotel is clean and room is spacious, spacious bathroom with bathtub. Bed is good with fine sheets. Friendly receptionists. Check in and check out went smooth and fast. The Spa - swimming pool- is free for guests. The stay was ok.
Breakfast was good, for the price we paid at the hotel it has amazing value. But most of all the staff, everyone is very nice and helpful, both owners and employees! They have a place to store skis/boards, and the common areas are nice places to hang out (games room, couches etc).
Next door restaurant (and part of the same building) Roto is really great! Delicious food (especially the sushi) great vibe, dj in the afternoon, cozy breakfasts, super friendly staff. Sno hotel Formigal however was very dissapointing and definitely no 4 stars worth.
Stayed here on the way back from Spain to France in the summer. Lively hotel. Good street parking. Spacious room. Great, busy bar and lounge area. Staff friendly. Bars and restaurants nearby. No real noise from outside at night despite open window as no aircon.
The staff was amazing, they are all GREAT!!! they went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Formigal.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable.
The apartment was spacious, comfortable and clean. Located some 3 min from the town center.
Can easily accommodate 3 or 4 in a squeeze. Has a garage and a store room below to keep the wet skis.
It is a bit old-fashioned furnished, but very nice hotel. Great mountain views, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and a good dinner. Comfy beds. Ideal for mountain lovers.
