I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the location was quiet location in forest. Very luxury place, more than what I expected. Highly recommend!

Good location in this very pretty old town - a short walk to the town centre and cafes/restaurants. Communication was by booking.com messages and was very good, e.g. they told me where I could leave my bike.

The owner's welcome, so unusual in a seafront location. Perfect spot, our balconies with frontline view of the beautiful bay. The sea was warm and calm with plenty of sheltered places to sit and relax. Private parking offered (fee) but parking right outside was free in mid June.
Half board option taken with two good choices of starter and main courses. all tasty and enjoyable.

Room - The hotel is located right on the beach and our apartment had a sea view which was absolutely fantastic. The apartment was really spacious and light with very comfortable beds and spacious clean bathrooms. There was a terrace room (not really a balcony) that ran the length of the apartment which was lovely and warm in May - perfect for drying swimming gear and sitting to read but I imagine it could get quite hot in the summer months.
Staff - were always friendly and as helpful as could be although we had some miscommunication in the bar/cafe at times - we definitely need to brush up on our Spanish as not their fault! The whole area is quite unspoilt so expect to make an effort with the language and culture, it was really nice to not be in a big resort geared to Brits.
Food - We didn't have breakfast as the apartment had a kitchenette which was adequate for light meals (fridge, microwave, hob, toaster) - no kettle though so if you are British, prepare to boil water for tea in a pan! Well equipped kitchen in terms of pans and utensils. The fridge wasn't massive but there is a supermarket just down the road so easy to stock up.
Activities - The indoor pool was small but warm and great for our kids to play in as it was so quiet there was no-one else there. We also made use of the gym, table football and table tennis so plenty to do on-site. There is a garden with loungers but you could not access this from the pool area which would have been nice although maybe this is different later in the season. We travelled half an hour into the mountains to access a guided Via Ferrata trip with Vulcan Adventures - stunning but challenging and also a guided canoe trip on the Ason river with CanoAson - highly recommended. Just up the coast, Noja is an amazing beach and has a good choice of restaurants and cafes.
The best bit for us tho was access to the most beautiful beach - great waves for surfing, sand for playing or just early morning walks - so gorgeous.
Salt marshes, slow tides in the estuaries and muddy river...
Salt marshes, slow tides in the estuaries and muddy river beds. Lots of waterfowl and grazing cows. Small village off main route with good shop, several snacky cafes and couple of good restaurants. Good walking on the doorstep. Close enough to beaches for morning or afternoon or all day visits. Famous anchovy town of Santona down road along bay.

Beer is available in the fridge for some euros.
Beer is available in the fridge for some euros. The doggos are so sweet to see. This was one of my favorite trips and places I’ve been to. Noja, Isla, and the hike to el faro del Caballo in Santoña I strongly recommend! all these places are very close to escalante!
In the middle of a nature reserve, the salt marshes in the river estuary near Santona and Laredo. This is a small friendly hotel in a village with good cafes and a couple of restaurants. Within 30 minutes drive are lovely beaches Noja & Isla or the 4km beach in Laredo bay. Cosy simple room with large windows overlooking quiet street and hills beyond. Easy parking. Friendly communicative proprietress and staff. Laredo beach vast and super shallow. Horse riding on sand dunes in Laredo cheap and friendly.
Perfect spot for anyone looking for few days breakaway in a peaceful place. The hotel is immersed in lush green. Nice swimming pool and a restaurant are a wonderful addition which make the stay super comfortable. Limited number of rooms allows for privacy even in high season. Staff are kind and competent, although not all speak English.
An hidden gem in beautiful Spanish countryside. Fabulous property with incredible original art everywhere. Beautiful room, excellent breakfasts and very good dinner. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights on the last leg of our holiday and this hotel was a superb end to our holiday.
It's a one star hotel, fine for just stopping over to catch the ferry. They offer a breakfast for a few euros which was nice. Check in is done via a code you get sent via whatsapp.
Beautiful setting, lovely pool and terrace area but the hotel is located a few miles outside Escalante village. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was lovely with good variety.
It was an exceptionally nice place to stay the staff were very helpful and kind. The room was over and above expectations. I could not recommend this Hotel highly enough.
Such an unusual but superb hotel. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Breakfast was varied and very good.
