Casa Víctor, hotel in Ciudad-Rodrigo

Boasting air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, Casa Víctor is set in Ciudad-Rodrigo. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

We are two self-catering 70+yr olds driving around Portugal & Spain. Juan is the owner of the apartment. He was proactive & responsive throughout the booking process and met us at the apartment on the day. There was a language barrier but managed OK. We stayed 2 nights (Saturday & Sunday) and Juan showed us free places to park very near the apartment and walked around the immediate area with us pointing out places to access the wall, places to eat and the tourist office. You can park in his garage which is a few minutes walk away and slopes down. We didn’t take advantage of it as we have had trouble with our hire car on hills and didn’t want to risk getting stuck. If you visit during the week (when you have to pay on the street), it would be great to use. Others have mentioned the stairs and there are quite a few (3x7 & 4x8) but they’re not steep and there are small landings inbetween sets of stairs. We had no trouble carrying our luggage up and believe me it’s a small price to pay for what you get in this apartment. It is very spacious and comfortable for couples or families with kids. It has everything you need to self-cater & Juan generously left buns for breakfast, bread, butter, milk, jam and water, tea and coffee pods. It was so refreshing to meet the host in person – we didn’t have to deal with one lock-box or online link and it was so simple compared to other bookings not to have to use any technology at all. Juan is a legend and should classed as a super host – he is kind and generous and trusting to guests. Nothing in the apartment is locked away. Although there is no wi-fi we just hot-spotted from our phones so all was good. There was a medieval fair in town the weekend we were there which made it tricky getting to the apartment as some roads were closed but the atmosphere of festivities was great and even though it rained, of course this apartment with everything had 2 umbrellas which we made use of!

The Medieval Fair was on the weekend we were there with free events and people dressed in costume roaming around the streets which made it very special. The streets were decorated with flags and the mood was warm despite the downpour on the Sunday, It was perfect to view the buildings, walls, bridge and castle during this time and to get a glimpse into life back then in this environment. The road that google told us to go down was closed because of the festival but a friendly local got out of his car to talk to us - in Spanish - we couldn't understand much but enough to know to follow him on an alternate route and it took us to the apartment. True Spanish hospitality from a complete stranger.....

A very historic building set within the fortifications of an old Napoleonic Fort, with helpful and pleasant staff, lots to look at in and around the hotel, and a walk up the stairs of the tower is well worth the view, even though you will be gasping for breath, only a short walk to the center of town and all the Bars, Cafes and Restaurants More of a personal note really, they (Europeans) don't get what ‘well done’ means in relation to food, when the menu says comes with jacket potatoes you do not expect half a potato, however, it must be said the wife’s lamb shank was cooked to perfection and her other half of the potato looked okay. One potato between two people looks like we're going back to the Irish potato famine! I must also add in fairness here they did not charge me for the meal as I did not eat most of it Well worth a visit and walk around the town and battlements

Lovely little town with a very family Spanish touch.

Lovely little town with a very family Spanish touch. The plaza mayor on a Saturday and football match was a happy gathering of all generations and it was lovely to see. Walking along the ancient Roman wall and along the river is a must. A lovely town which I could for sure visit again on our way to Algarve from north Spain

Ciudad Rodrigo is a lovely walled town with lots of history . We particularly enjoyed the Goya exhibition and also the very odd but hugely enjoyable Museum of Chamber pots ! The walk around the wall is really lovely and the views are amazing . We ate in Plaza Major where Menu del Dia was 15 euros .

Very disappointing especially as it was a birthday treat.

Very disappointing especially as it was a birthday treat. Booked a double room and got a twin. Very small, dark room with old fashioned bathroom with many broken tiles. Rubbish for the money. No better room offered despite being lots of empty rooms. Breakfast order was wrong. Waited over half an hour for eggs and then the order was wrong again. Staff did not seem bothered. Very over priced and the room was nothing like the one we booked and nothing like the pictures advertised.

As usual Paradores more than met expectations. From reception to departure excellent attentive staff. Always willing to help. The location is unique a very short walk from the centre; and the Parador itself is in a historic building. Two splendid main staircases. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and easy to access.

A fantastic location, right in the centre of the historic town with lots of bars and restaurants. There was a great choice of breakfast and the room was functional. There was also space under the hotel for parking, although we cycled and parked our bikes in a secure area, which was really great.
