I don't like leaving bad reviews - running a hotel can't be easy - so I always try to appreciate the good things and find ways around any problems. Sadly, and I've never found this before, there were no good things. I suspect financial corners have been cut everywhere here, especially in the staffing levels.
When we arrived the reception desk was empty. After a long wait the barman went in the back to get someone who came out clearly very irritated, and extremely unhelpful.
The room was very tired, and the bed lumpy and uncomfortable. In the morning the water was only lukewarm, but it was the morning rush hour so I decided to shower after breakfast.
Other than one lady taking room numbers, who disappeared as soon as she got them , the breakfast room was unstaffed. All food was totally cold - fried and scrambled eggs, bacon etc - not just cooled down a bit, but completely cold ( and this was half way through the breakfast period). Spanish guests were as surprised as we were, and tried loading plates of cold food under the toast grill. The coffee machine was delivering hot water instead of coffee.
Back in our room I tried the water, and it was even colder than before ( and yes I did let it run), so no shower.
Every other hotel on our three week trip was really enjoyable, so my advice is that there are probably better hotels in Burgos.

Restaurant fare below average, parking so tight as to be almost unusable.
As an overnight stop the hotel was acceptable. For a longer stay, it would be nice to have had a bed that wasn't so hard. I can't say if all the mattresses are the same as this was the first time we stayed but you know when you sit on the bed and it doesn't move with the weight of a heavy adult it is more than firm.
The staff were great but apart from being able to get a coffee and a toasty there were no facilities open, this may have been the time of year as they were catering for a large external party downstairs in the restaurant during the day.
There is a restaurant a few hundred metres away but that wasn't open at lunch so we eneded up buying a couple of baggettes from Lidl. The staff were kind enough to provide us some cutlery and they didn't mind us taking food to our room.
It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room however I seem to recall a coffee machine in the cafe part of the hotel were you could get a drink.

Great stop for an overnight stay before travelling to...
Great stop for an overnight stay before travelling to Santander or Bilbao. The address needs updating on the Booking.com website as the Hotel is in Los Tomillares (on the N120) and not in the village of Castrillo del Val.

. Shabby hotel..outside patio area not clean..cigarette butts everywhere..bar restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient..check in was a most peculiar event..mix up over the availability of transfer..eventually it became available..prob not a pilgrim hotel as it is only10k from Burgos..
Hotel Camino de Santiago is a magnificent hotel located outside Burgos city with a splendid decoration. The room was excellent for us 4 in family. Good wifi connection. The car was parked outside in the street in a quiet area. Good value for the money.
